Re: vlc equaliser with nvda, how?
Did you ever get an answer to this question? The equaliser is accessible through tools, effects and filters. menu. Unfortunately it's not really as friendly as for example winamp's native equalizer and there are no keys that I can see to directly adjust the bands. You need to tab between them and operate them as you would any other set of slider controls. And I don't know where your cursor will start, so it's really a matter of trial and error. I just recently started to play with this (I only use VLC for videos, normally, as it's by far the best video player out there, but winamp suits all my audio playback needs) and so it's possible someone has a better idea of how this works with a screenreader. - Original Message - From: "Robert Godridge" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Thursday, February 23, 2017 12:53 AM Subject: vlc equaliser with nvda, how? I know vlc has an equaliser, please please will someone let me know how to use it with nvda? or better still, are there any stand alone equalisers for windows that are accesseable and decent, 10 band or more? Firstly you have to make sure the playlist is in view and then you can up/down using arrow keys through it, press enter to hear the song you've selected. Alternatively if you just want to go back and forth through a playlist in order you can use p and n keys - previous and next - to move, r turns on "Random" mode. Nothing like accidentally making a discovery , lost count of how many times I've done that so we'll have to accidentally discover some other features. I have a Logitech Gaming mouse here where the wheel not only rolls but can be moved from side-to-side ever so slightly - game controlling - so one wonders what might happen if I have VLC in focus and move the wheel from side-to-side? Good summary. I should also add that one of those open commands is possibly one of the most powerful commands in VLC as it allows the user to open pretty much anything, an audio CD, files on a computer, on a network drive or even an Internet Radio stream. > On 25 Dec 2015, at 1:12 PM, Robert Nelson wrote: > > > VLC Media Player Shortcuts > > > 1. Re: VLC media player shortcut keys
A couple of other things Windows muses might like to bare in mind with VLC which make life one hell of a lot easier when you’re dealing with a whole heap of files. Have a folder of a few hundred files you want to add to a playlist? go into File Explorer, select the files you want and then select “Add To VLC Playlist” from the context menu. VLC will start playing the selected files after a few moments. From here you can obviously “Save As Playlist” if you like so the playlist will be available for you next time you wish to hear it. > On 25 Dec 2015, at 10:24 PM, Brian Olesen wrote: > > Hi > Yeah n next element in playlist aand p previous element. > All other shortcut keys are fine. > > Brian > Brian > > -Oprindelig meddelelse- > Fra: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] På vegne af Robert Nelson > Sendt: 25. december 2015 03:12 > Til: 'PC Audio Discussion List' > Emne: VLC media player shortcut keys > > > VLC Media Player Shortcuts > > > 1. Randy: Your original message was: Friends, I can't make heads or tails of this thing. can someone tell me how to getfor example form one episode to another? I even tried pressing the n as in nancy keyit stops. Can someone help, if you don't mind, please? You have wasted a lot of time going off on tangents. I strongly recommend that you read the following and make sure that you understand what you are being told. Put your DVD in the drive. Start VLC player. Use Control+D to bring up the disk dialogue. Tab through this dialogue and make sure that the DVD appears in the field that indicates the disk that will be opened. If your target DVD is not in that field because you have more than one DVD drive then use the browse button to move to the correct drive. Once you have verified that you have the correct disk selected, use the shift+tab button to go back to the play button. Press space on the play button and after 10 to 30 seconds (depending on the preference of the DVD manufacturer), the DVD will begin to play. To play or pause the DVD use the space bar. Use P only if you want to start playback from the very beginning. The playback menu can be reached by Alt+L . Re: vlc is driving me nuts!.
The only thing I can't - at this time - play on VLC for Windows are those files etc on my DLNA/UpNP devices but that's not because VLC for Windows doesn't have the facilities to play them, I just haven't been able to access the appropriate part with my Screen Reader yet, I'm sure that if VLC for the Mac can do it then VLC for Windows certainly can. I'm sure I'm looking in the right place with VLC for Windows, under open Network and the select protocol combo box, now if I can get WE to read that then I'll be in business, I'll have another play tomorrow. I tested VLC with DVD'S, its best to open the DVD from the Open Disc option from the media menu, from there you'll see a skip menu option which bypasses the welcom menu etc, you can also select what you wish to play from here. You can also use the menus, like video, audio and all that to move around. They have a “program” and “ital” selector which actually can get you passed a DVD menu too. > On Jul 16, 2015, at 12:08 AM, randy tijerina wrote: > > I did just that..i hate to keep bothering you guys. > jaws keeps saying..not in a table. > At 11:12 PM 7/15/2015, you wrote: >> I've just played around with VLC on DVD'S here, if p and x don't work then >> try the aforementioned ctrl-alt-left and right arrows, works fine. >> >> >> >> On 16/07/2015 1:57 PM, randy tijerina wrote: >>> I couldn't make that thing move to the next episode with >>> x..I don't know what gives here. >>> At 10:45 PM 7/15/2015, you wrote: so this is for playing a dvd.correct? Re: VLC
No, I don't think the setting is memorised, I have that same thing happen here, I just go and change it again where appropriate. In my situation I might prefer VLC play through my default computer speakers, I don't want this however if I'm watching a recorded TV show, I then switch VLC to play through my Denon AVR2113. . Just replying to this email again, had another read of it. If a jump to time function is important then why not suggest it to the developer, do you really suggest that just because a player doesn't have a jump to time feature that its no good? If a player didn't play, then I would certainly suggest to you that the player was no good. Yes, I do recall an issue similar to that which you described but that was quite some time ago, turn on the auto update feature so that you're notified of updates when VLC is launched. I guess you could describe me as a Power VLC user, I use it for all sorts of tasks, playing from my Media Server, ripping to CD'S if I'm in a hurry, converting from one audio format to another, accessing stations on Shoutcast and so on. Re: VLC
Again, I think this might be a Screen Reader thing, there's a list of shortcuts available so type VLC Shortcuts into Google and you should get the appropriate page. As I recall with the Windows version, ctrl-up and down move the volume, I remember that much and the usual types of navigation and manipulation of tracks are available. Regarding the Interface? I think that can be changed so perhaps that might give better access, really should got the Windows machine out again and have a play to refresh my memory. Re: VLC Media Player?
I agree with you absolutely on this. I suppose I use VLC a lot due to the fact that I use computers on multiple platforms, I have Mac machines and I use OSX, I use machines that run LYNUX and of course I use Windows, VLC is an open source multi platform player. Again this is personal experience but I've found Winamp to be very bloated and I've had it crash quite frequently on my Windows machines here so those reasons alone steered me away from the software. I know others who are more than happy to use Windows Media Player and who can blame them as the software - from the little I've played with it - seems very user friendly indeed but the unfortunate part is that Windows Media Player doesn't seem to support all the audio formats that VLC does. Anyway as has been stated, you have heaps of options at your fingertips so use what's best for you. Well, whatever works for you...the good thing about this is that we have a lot of options at our disposal, something which, if you'll forgive me, a good number of visually impaired people don't seem to realise or care about. Re: VLC Media Player?
That's odd. What do you mean when you say they won't play right? Do they play at all? Can you not get into full screen mode? I don't actually know a lot about the programme...I just use it to play videos and it's never had any issues at all with that, but winamp is my go-to player for audio. - Original Message - From: "Tom Kaufman" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Monday, June 24, 2013 6:02 PM Subject: Re: VLC Media Player? Re: VLC question
You can do it two ways, one is hold down the left shift and use the left and right cursors and the other is, hold down the left control key and use the left and right cursors. Regards. Re: vlc media player for windows with screen reader?
Hm. Whatever works, then. I've never had any such problem with VLC, nor have I seen it happen on any other machine. But there's always something that can go wrong, and I'm not a technical expert. They probably have a forum for troubleshooting, as winamp does. - Original Message - From: "kim kelly" To: "PC Audio Discussion List" Sent: Saturday, June 09, 2012 3:21 PM Subject: Re: vlc media player for windows with screen reader?
