Hi Nektarios, glad to hear you got a Rockbox capable player. I too have an h140, and would never go back. The player itself is ok but I hate using horible inaccessible creative software to transfer files and do other things. I ended up buying an iriver h140 and all I have to say is that it is great! I installed the rockbox firmware and I have talking menus, file names etc. It is the best experience I had in my life since I discovered a screen reader exists for my computer years ago. I will never buy a creative or an ipod again. Well, I shouldn't say that. I may investigate buying an ipod in the future when rockbox is working satisfactorily with it. The touchpad is actually quite accessible, and so is the software or at least the version i had. my model, the zen micro 5 gb, would allow you to customize the menus, so provided you have a soft touch, you can mess with the radio and the voice recorder, or you can buy the remote which switches from player to radio with one button. the software is easy, there is actually a place, provided you have windows media 10, in my computer that you can simply paste your mp3/wma files, i'm not sure about plays for sure, and it will send them. even if you don't use the menus, the zen is accessible because a click device similar to the ipod can be enabled with sighted help, so you can hear when you tap any area of the touchpad in any menu. however, i had 3 units and they all had hard drive errors, my friend sent one in and got the other one stolen and another blind friend has hers working for over a year, so i don't know about the quality of the thing itself. hope this helps brandon ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] This list is a service of MosenExplosion.com. Re: question on MP3 player
Hi, Kurt! Having gone through this very conversation with myself and others, I've been told the Creative Zen is not blind friendly. I wound up buying an Ilo on Ebay, or you can get one from Walmart, but only from their on-line store. I hope someone can tell me I'm wrong about all this, but that's been my experience. I'm always on the lookout for blind-friendly devices that will play, not just WMA files, but the ones that are marked Plays For Sure, which means they'll also play the WMA Digital Rights Management files! It's a tough world out there in tiny device land! Ick!
