Re: Internet Radio on Mobile Devices
hello jonathan, joe bollard from ireland here, a quick question i purchased the plextalk pocket recorder a couple of months ago, i was informed that in august of this year a chip in the recorder could be activated to allow one to listen to internet radio on the recorder, as of now i have heard nothing of the idea, do you have any information on this, thanks for taking the trouble to read this, i don't want to purchase a radio for internet listening if i can get it on the plextalk, regards and thanks again, joe bollard. - Original Message - From: Jonathan Mosen jmo...@mosen.org To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Thursday, August 26, 2010 7:42 PM Subject: Internet Radio on Mobile Devices Hi everyone, Mushroom FM is a fairly new Internet radio station that I run. Already though, we're getting a great response, with over 3000 unique listeners having tuned in from 127 countries in the last month. We've had lots of inquiries about how to listen to Mushroom FM, which uses Shout cast technology, with various mobile devices, so we've put together a guide on how it's done. I hope you'll listen to Mushroom FM while you're over there, but even if you don't, this could help with the stations you listen to. Hi Joe, the Plextalk Pocket does have WiFi, but as yet, not the software to permit listening to Internet radio. I have no idea if that is planned. Re: Internet Radio on Mobile Devices
Does Ootunes get a mention in your guide? The fact for example that its like having a completely accessible Internet radio in your pocket, just type the name of the station you want to listen to - in this instance Mushroom FM - and away you go, you're listening, you can then save the station in your favourites for later listening etc. On 27/08/2010, at 4:42 AM, Jonathan Mosen wrote: Hi everyone, Mushroom FM is a fairly new Internet radio station that I run. Hope it is as the more portable devices around which will do this then the better, should take a leaf out of the book of Ootunes I reckon with a database of over 25,000 Internet streams. It's not my guide, and I don't have an iPod, but I did follow the link, and Ootunes is mentioned. -- Christopher chalt...@gmail.com -Original Message- From: pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Dane Trethowan Sent: Thursday, August 26, 2010 4:21 PM To: PC Audio Discussion List Subject: Re: Internet Radio on Mobile Devices Does Ootunes get a mention in your guide? Re: Internet Radio on Mobile Devices
Excellent. Now please don't think I'm paranoid for one moment about Iphones or Ipod Touch machines, I just wish there were machines or more pieces of software like Ootunes about for multiple platforms, Ootunes is my idea of what a piece of Internet radio software or an Internet radio itself should be, nicely accessible for one thing as I've already described, a nice interface to use etc. For those who are interested in Ootunes I believe several Podcasts have been done on the app so other list members may wish to fill us in at this point because I'm not exactly sure where to find them but I'm certain that others have done Ootunes Podcasts somewhere.
