Re: Noise Reduction Sound Forge Dilemma; Solution Needed

2004-06-02 Thread Marijan Janev
Graham,
In the SF6, after selecting the noise you wont to apply on the whole sound
file, press alt+d, up arrow once, right arrow and from the directX plug-ins
list choose noise reduction. Then choose preset you think is the best and
press alt+s. Another dialog pop-ups where you can specify the time interval
of your file on which you wish to apply the noise reduction. When you have
done it, tab to ok and press enter. Now you are again in noise reduction
dialog box and can hear how the file sounds.
I suppose the same is in the SF7.
Good luck!
Sincerely,
Marijan

When using Noise Reduction with Sound Forge 7, I want to take a noise print
from the middle of the file and then apply it to the whole file. I can't
seem to get the technique of doing it. Sometime ago, I read of a way to
select the whole file from within the Noise Reduction preset, but I can't
find the spot to click. Can anyone help?

Thanks, Ken. Now I remember that that's where I think I first learned it
could be done. I will check as you suggest.

 Graham,

I covered this very subject for ACB Radio a couple of years ago. Just look
for my name in the archives and you should have it.

With your mouse keys, find where it says both, left or right near the
bottom of the noise reduction dialog. Right click that and find select all
data.

It seems the area to right click is near the select button.

I don't see any option in SF7 or its predecessors to use the clipboard for
a
noise print, although I could copy and paste a piece of the noisy passage
to
the front of the data file and do it that way, but I would like to know
how
you select all the file in a noise reduction preset in SF if any SF users
are out there, paying attention, and willing to be helpful.

If it works like Gold Wave, then what you do is copy the sound into your
clipboard, and the noiseprint feature uses the contents of the clipboard
to determine what sound you want removed.

On Main Menu, it sounds like someone used the shift key and up-arrow to take
the noise out.
