Stereo mic: was RE: USB Sound Cards
Hi. I suspect the imic's mic input is mono. Most sound cards mic input is mono. I purchased a USB sound card for my new Windows 7 laptop, and it has two mic jacks on it. The tech who installed the software on it for me said one of the jacks was for a stereo mic, but I'm not sure if that's true, because while setting up my PC for internet broadcasting I plugged the mic into each jack, and it came out of a different speaker depending on which jack was used. The mic I used wasn't stereo, though. I don't know the brand name of the sound card, but it wasn't that expensive, only costing around $50. I've been able to set it up to work pretty well, but I haven't figured out how to mute the line in on it. This isn't a big deal, since I can just unplug my XM PCR from it, but I would like to figure out how to get this to work. Hope this helps. GO REDS! Hello paul! Well, it can be accessible by scripting the soft ware, but, for the purpesous of using it as a regular music player I don't think you don't have to touch the software, just let it be as it is. when I'm using sound forge or sonar etc, I can go in to the asio pannel and adjust some parameters from it's panel without any problems, but the actual EMU control pannel isn't so accessible, so I just let it be as it is. I am using winamp with this card without any problem at all. Regards, Jörgen Hansson! Re: usb sound cards
Oh, the one I found at the local computer store was $300 or so. That one is the audigy external. I forget where I heard it, but someone said they returned it because it wouldn't allow them to use their primary card along with it, but that can happen between any two sound cards, not that the creative explicitly disables the other card on purpose. - Original Message - From: "TJ Olsen" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: usb sound cards
Dean, I use a Creative Labs MP3+ (that is, mp3 plus) which cost me all of $34.00 from Tiger Direct. It has R C A jacks for in and out, and it has 3.5 mm. stereo jacks as well. The down side of this U S B sound card is that a lot of hiss is present when recording from the mike input. One card which is highly recommended which I have not tried is an Imic by Griffin Technology. I saw this thing on sale within the past week for $28.00 from J and R. Music. I do not know the specifics about this particular card. Don Roberts - Original Message - From: "Dean Martineau" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: usb sound cards
I heard the Creative ones disable your primary card (good thing I didn't spend $300 on one) and the mic jack can't be used at the same time as the mic. I think one always overrides the other if plugged in. - Original Message - From: "Dean Martineau" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list.
