My experience has been that..in order to record a live stream..using Total Recorder, the parameters need to be set to "soundboard." But then..this computer has been known to pull some strange things anyway! For instance, if I try starting a recording in "TR"..before bringing up a live stream, the computer seems to lose the sound drivers! However..if I start the stream..then start "Total Recorder" to record, the stream will hang up! The "recording source" must be "software" whereas from an externally connected device like a hifi amplifier would be "soundboard". Maybe I'm misunderstanding here, but, Carliss, are you asking how to use those 3 players to record live streams? if so, the answer is that you cant. Programs like Winamp, Realplayer, and Windows Media Player are just that, players. You can't use them for recording. As far as recorders are concerned, I have nothing to add to what has already been said. You have a good choice of programs here. Hi. There are many ways to record all sorts of live streams. The most often used, and simplest, is through a program like Total Recorder http://www.totalrecorder.com which will record the live stream as it plays. Alternatively, a program like Stream Down http://stream-down.cocsoft.com or offline explorer from http://www.metaproducts.com will download the real/wma file to your hard drive and you can then listen to it, convert it to MP3, etc. The advantage this has over Total Recorder and other programs like it is that one need not hear the live stream as it downloads. One can download the stream and listen later. I use total recorder to record streams all the time. If I open total recorder, then connect to my stream, I have no problems recording it. If I want to schedule something to be recorded, I set up the schedule connect to the stream, and everything is done, when I return.
