Re: Simulate stereo.

2006-12-14 Thread Dane Trethowan
Absolutely, I used a 100MS example when I wrote about this to the
list but having looked back I realise that 100MS was too large, I did
this to some music tracks I had and I used a 10MS delay.

Hi,
I did this with a guitar track. I used a very minor delay. If it's too
much, it will sound more like an echo, but something like 1 MS or so,
maybe even less, will give you a stereo distinction. It takes a bit of
experimenting, and I don't remember what I did exactly, but it did work
beautifully.

You guys are on the mark! Many of the older mono recordings from the 1950's
are produced in this way in order to get the stereo effect. I say go for it.

Re: Simulate stereo.

2006-12-14 Thread Bob Seed
Probably the best that you will be able to do is to cause a split second
delay in one of the recordings thus giving you a simulated stereo effect.
You could also phase them thus creating another effect of sorts. If the
recording is mono it is mono and there isn't much that one can do to alter
it. On the other hand if you record the song on two tracks you will get the
sound in both ears when you play it back, and by causinga split second delay
it will give you a simulated stereo effect. At least this has been my
experience. . . .

Just a suggestion here, if its a mono signal could you copy it to the
clipboard, open a new file, paste a copy of the mono file into the
left channel and then paste another copy into the right channel
applying a 100MS delay or something like that? This may be helpful.
