Anders! I use the two USB sound cards. One is an Edirol UA-3FX, $172. It has line and mic inputs and lots of effects. It's billed as a guitar effects unit. That's what I use for most everything. Then I have a Tascam US-122, $200 for on location recording. It takes any sort of microphones you can imagine, has built-in preamps and is totally portable getting it's power from the USB port. That makes sense, Rusty. I'm not familiar with various components of computers, but you bet I'm learning. I guess like anything else, there are better systems, better sound cards, better drives, etc. I guess it's true. I have been using SoundBlaster with no trouble at all. I use jaws. I have 5.1 platinum on my 98 machine and SB audigy 2 on my main unit. Re: Turtlebeach cards.
Hello everyone, I know that some people have two sound cards but I was wondering if you can have two Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound cards in your computer? I have a Santa Cruz at the present time and I would like to have a second in my computer but some people I have talked to in person don't know if you can have two Santa Cruz sound cards but they did know a few people that have two SoundBlaster cards in their computer. Does anyone know if it depends on the type of card to have two in your computer or can you have two cards as long as they are the same? You can get the Santa Cruz card from newegg.com for around $60. That's where I got mine. Re: Turtlebeach cards.
Hi, Turtle beach is a good sound card, quieter than the various sb cards. I owned and used one for years and the only reason I switched to an audigy card was for the easy access to the jacks in the separate module which sits atop my tower. I do lots of multi track recording and got tired of crawling around under the desk to plug line in and microphone cords. Also, the external module has volume control knobs, yes, I said knobs. Makes life easier. But for normal work, the turtle beach is a fine card. Later Rusty > At 07:12 PM 10/10/2004, mimi spake thusly:- Oh, now, when I first got my computer, I had a strange soundcard in it. It was an offbrand of some kind and I switched to the Soundblaster Live in May, 2003. (I think that's when I did that.) I never knew whether the first soundcard had a line-in or not. I gave it away to someone else who sold it later. Is the Turtlebeach a high-end card that cost a lot more? I'm happy with Soundblaster. Don't think I'll tinker too much with this old computer nowadays as I am saving for a brand new system. I'm thinking of buying my next one from Radio Shack--unless I'm wrong, and someone else can make some suggestions, but I'm on a tight budget and I don't want to go into the red all over again. I like getting my system from a place whose sales staff will take the time to make sure I would be able to work it when I get home. Circuit City and Frye's are not hot places for me to shop at, as I find people there less helpful. I've been dealing with Radio Shack for years off and on, and at this time, thought I would ask some questions first. Info on TurtleBeach cards
Hi, Per the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz, I have included excerpts from users who praise that card. Yet they have been using Santa Cruz for a long time. What is the experience of T B card users using a newer computer with XP Home and JAWS 4.5 and newer JAWS versions, for example, using free computer-based long distance services? I ask this as many new computers are soldw ith onboard sound--which works fine for me. I wonder if any one got a Dell with onboard sound and preferred the T B cards? Or did any one choose to bypass the Santa Crus and use onboard sound or choose the Creative labs cards. > On Wed, 06 Oct 2004 19:04:19 -0600, you wrote: itwould be interesting to hear from some Many thanks. >I beg to differ on that one dude! > The T.B card is infinitely superior in sound quality and performance then any Creative product I have tried. For the buck it is one of the best cards on the market today. absolutly. Use it since 2001 and I'm quite happy with it. On the other end, I gave my SBLive ages ago to a friend, I can't stand their software suite and driver takes a lot of CPU and do many crackles. Won't buy anything from Creative again, they make stilish products but actually when you dig into it, they are very chip > > ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Re: Turtlebeach cards.
I agree on the lack of accessibility on the Sound Blaster cards. I guess manufacturers do not think blind people uses them. I don't know. Nobody really thinks of us, except the developers developing accessible software. Mimi - Original Message - From: "Rocker" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Hi, At 10:44 07/10/2004 -0600, you wrote: I really wish card manufactures would make their control pannels accessible eh? Try M-audio delta 24/96 or m-audio delta 44 from midiman. Every check-box and every fader is accessible, you might need help to establish which control is being adjusted, but you will hear the per centage of gain when using navigation keys. The patch-bay router again is accessible, as is every page on the control pannel. Try it, you'll like it. Best audio cards I have ever used.
