If it's giving you hat chirp, do an alt with the letter N and the
information bar will open presenting you with a button to allow or
temporarily allow popups from that sight, or give you iptions for
downloading the winamp patch. Try that and see if it helps. Thanks.

To download the patch once you are at the link I have mentioned
previously you need to activate a link called "download Now" to
download the patch. I'm not sure if the patch is necessary if you
don't listen to MP4 files but I always like to install security
patches for any programs installed on my computer.

Well, I have tried this link, a number of times and it never quite gets to
the patch! Does one have to log into Betanews, to make this work? I really
am stumped on this! Is this patch necessary, if one doesn't use MP4 files
on their computer?

Thanks,

Hi Larry,

One place where you can find this patch is at
http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Winamp_5_Security_Patch/1066336873/4.
The patch is 56kb in size. It is an .EXE file and when you run it it
will detect your Winamp directory and install itself in the right
place. Just follow the prompts the patch gives you when you install it.

Patch for Winamp 5.34

2007-05-06 Thread Larry N
Hi everyone. I came in late on the discussion of the Wimamp patch for
version 5.34. So i thought I could just locate it at the Winamp site and
follow instructions. Maybe I'm missing something, but I could find no
reference to it there. So, where can I find it and will it self install to
the right folder? If it won't self install, then what do I do with it?

Thanks,

Actually, it IS somewhat comforting. A list member sent me some scripts
off-list to help the library issue we hope...We'll see if it helps with the
search as well.

Hi, All.

Just updated to the official release of Winamp 5.34 (using Pro Version).
I'm noticing an odd thing that I've never had happen before. In the
library, I often use the search function since my library is so large
and not everything is propperly tagged due to the various rippers and
taggers I've used over the years. Anyhow, when I type something into
the search box, anytime I press the spacebar, it inserts the space like
it should, but also inserts the letter X. Anyone else having this
problem or know what might be causing it?

Also, I reverted back to the Winamp scripts that came with JAWS
8.0.1177...No change; the library still only reads the last letter of
each option in the Tree View such as Audio, Video and stuff...They're
both "O". Usually, if I use "Say Current Line", I can get the whole
name spoken, but not always. I deleted the scripts I'd downloaded from
JFWLite and, as I said, went back to the default scripts...No change.

Any ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

I'm using Winamp 5.34 with Window-eyes and the treeview in the Winamp
library is working beautifully. Accessibility in the Winamp library
certainly isn't perfect using Window-Eyes but navigating the treeview
has improved dramatically since the beta cycle of version 5.34 started.

I managed to get it working on my windows xp home system, but the
library is still a mess. Jaws only speaks one letter for each member of
the tree view. 5.2 was the best it has been, but seems tohave gone

Yeah...I feel it is. It's a LITTLE clumsy as far as what it reads, but you can
use the library with your PC cursor instead of going through finding what you
want with the JAWS cursor and routing it to the PC and such.

I had this problem with the Library and Jaws ever since I got Jaws 6 and I
am still using Winamp 4.13. I didn't upgrade Winamp because of the library
problems people have had with later versions and Jaws. I now have Jaws 8
but haven't fiddled with the library in ages. I now like the Windows Media
Player library better.

2007-04-17 Thread Wes Derby
Yeah...Sorry I wasn't more clear on that; my abbreviation issue occurs in the
Media Library. Haven't noticed it anywhere else though. Hopefully, it'll be
corrected in the full release...For now, it's certainly better than 5.33.

2007-04-17 Thread Mac Norins
Wes,

I , too, found that abbreviation problem, but, mine included the media
library, as well! I am curious as to why that happens, in this beta build,
when it didn't appear in the previous ones! Any ideas as to how one would
remedy this? I guess we just wait for the release of the "final" version!

I downloaded the new beta version of Winamp last night and noticed a few
things I thought might be interesting to other users.

First, the Library is working better with JAWS, as far as being able to use
arrow keys and the PC cursor. However, I notice that as I scroll through
the first tree view where the different sections (audio, video, online
services, etc.) are listed, JAWS only speaks the last couple letters of
whatever I'm currently focused on...But, if I use the "Say Current Line"
command, it will read the whole line. For instance, when simply using the
arrows, "Audio" becomes "io" or sometimes "au". Video became "eo", and so
on. I used the "Save and Compile" option on the script file, and it made no
difference. I'm running the Feb 28 release of JAWS 8.0.

On a positive note, it looks like, even though it's the "Full" version and
not the "Pro" version, it retained my Pro registration...I haven't tried
ripping and burning yet, but I imagine I'll be able to do so at maximum
speed.

2007-04-17 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi Wes

Yup, when you register Winamp pro, it adds an entry to your Windows
registry that maintains your Winamp pro registration, so as long as
that information is there, it doesn't matter what version you
download and install.
You should have no problems ripping and burning at maximum speed so
you're cool.

Quick Observation on Latest Winamp 5.34 Beta

2007-04-17 Thread Wes Derby
I downloaded the new beta version of Winamp last night and noticed a few things
I thought might be interesting to other users.

First, the Library is working better with JAWS, as far as being able to use
arrow keys and the PC cursor. However, I notice that as I scroll through the
first tree view where the different sections (audio, video, online services,
etc.) are listed, JAWS only speaks the last couple letters of whatever I'm
currently focused on...But, if I use the "Say Current Line" command, it will
read the whole line. For instance, when simply using the arrows, "Audio"
becomes "io" or sometimes "au". Video became "eo", and so on. I used the
"Save and Compile" option on the script file, and it made no difference. I'm
running the Feb 28 release of JAWS 8.0.

On a positive note, it looks like, even though it's the "Full" version and not
the "Pro" version, it retained my Pro registration...I haven't tried ripping
and burning yet, but I imagine I'll be able to do so at maximum speed.
