RE: cloud player
Hi Ray. I get that message also but it clears in around 10 or 15 seconds. When you go to the normal site, go to the combo box and select MP3 and put in the edit box any artist or track you wish and when you get the results you will find a link to the cloud player there somewhere. RE: cloud player
Hi. No, you don't have to play anything. You don't have to download the cloud player, it is a part of the Amazon site. What you would need to do is download and install the Amazon downloader because you will need that to download whole albums but you don't need to download anything to play music that is on your cloud player and you don't have to play anything to get to it. Here's my suggestion; Go to www.amazon.com. Sign in and if you are redirected to the UK site, ignore it. Find the combo box where you select the catogory of the items you want to search for, in your case, MP3 downloads. Then tab to the edit box and typen in Tony Christie. You can type in anything; the Beatles, The Eagles etc, it is just to get you to the results page. Once there look for the link that will take you to the cloud player and press enter on it. If you can try that and then get back to us and let us know the result. By the way, have you purchassed any music from Amazon's mp3 downloads in the past? RE: cloud player
Hi Ray. No, when you download whole albums either from the site or from the cloud player you still need the Amazon downloader. You can as I understand it download a single track without the downloader but not a whole album, unless you want to download the album track by track. However, if you have the downloader installed then even downloading a single track will launch the downloader but if you don't have the downloader you can only download one track at a time. You don't have to download any tracks though and you don't need the downloader if you are only going to play tracks on the cloud player, you only need the downloader if you want to download a track to your computer, apart from that you can use the cloud player as your music player. You have 5gig free space but you can purchase more if you wish, up to 1TB but that is expensive. In essence, you need never download any music to your computer and in fact any music you have on your computer can be uploaded to the cloud player. Find the combo box where you select the catogory of the items you want to search for, in your case, MP3 downloads. Then tab to the edit box and typen in Tony Christie. I think you might need sighted help to see the download link for the downloader. I do know when I purchase an mp3 file or album I then see the link for the downloader but my tame computer guy saw it before that but it is there. As for Cloud players being the future? In the UK if you wanted 1tb of storage on the Amazon cloud then it would cost £320 per year, that's $486 per year, a lot of money that will never cease and may only go up. If it were a more economical option that would be different. Also, not all cloud storage is accessible for the blind and there is no sign of them becoming so unless there are plug ins and or work arounds. Here in the UK I can get 2 Seagate 4tb USB external drives for the £320 Amazon wants for 1TB of storage and the External drive is much more accessible. RE: issues with the amazon cloud player
Hi Ray. Well not knowing exactly what difficulties you are having and not knowing what part of the world you are in I can only let you know my situation. I am in the UK and I'm using Win7 64bit with JAWS 13. When I go to www.amazon.co.uk/cloudplayer I must sign in and once I've done that I then can tab or arrow down and I get all the information that is there. I am told how many tracks are in my cloud player, how many more I can add (my purchased tracks are not added to my total, only tracks I import and I've not done that). I am also told how many genres are in my cloud player, how many artists, albums etc. I can creat play lists or search for a particular track or album and I can either choose to play or download them or only selected tracks. I did have trouble at first trying to download because it seemed I had to go into my tools menu and enable download alerts and once I did that all went fine. From where I stand at the moment I find the Amazon cloud player completely accessible. After I send this mail I'm going to try www.amazon.com/cloudplayer and see if I still get complete access. If you are not in the UK and are trying to download from the UK site then i can understand it not allowing this due to boundary restrictions. I do know if I go to the amazon.com site and try to purchase mp3 files, it won't let me. Walter. -Original Message- From: Pc-audio [mailto:pc-audio-boun...@pc-audio.org] On Behalf Of Ray T. no I am trying to download from the US site and it keeps sending me to the UK site even though I am in the US Ray T. RE: cloud player
Hi Ray. OK, if I understand you correctly, you go to .com and sign in and when you sign in you are redirected to .co.uk, is that what happens? If so that is very strange. After I sent my last message I did what I said I would; I went to .com and signed in and was redirected to .co.uk but that is right and proper because I can't download anything from the .com site. Apart from contacting Amazon customer service why not just go to the regular Amazon .com site and sign in. Then when you see the link for the cloud player, click on it and see where it takes you. BTW, Ray, do you know of any tutorial material, for just downloading purchased mp3 downloads, from Amazon? Is that portion accessible, onits own? I seem to recall that it is or was, in a brief tutorial, from Woody Ana Dressner, quite a few years ago? I don't know of any and I didn't know you could do that without that client. Now folks file this one as Doh! I first noticed this problem where I would attempt to connect to http://www.amazon.com/cloudplayer with the laptop. Now I would do the sign in and get redirected to http://www.amazon.co.uk this thing bugged me because no matter what I did to IE it kept doing the same thing. Would it do it on the XP machine? Sure enough it did. Same actions same results. so I called the customer service folks and it turns out that I linked the 2. I don't recall why and I don't know how I did it but there it was. Both are standing alone now and that brings me to the following how do you use that client? It doesn't look like it plays well with JAWS13. Ray T. That silly cloud player isn't accessible with an audio screen reader unless they made it accessible reasontly. I have never ben able to access that player at all. Good luck to all of you. Re: Amazon Desktop Cloud Player
I suspect, from the description, and nothing more, that's it's a player that will play music you have stored in the cloud. The cloud, is the term for where information is saved that's accessible everywhere. google docs, is an example of a cloud bassed application. The person who asked the accessibility question should download the cloud player, and test it for themself. Screenreaders, technical compantancy play a huge part in many cases on the question of accessibility. twitter http://twitter.com/richardclayppol last.fm http://www.last.fm/user/lord_of_beer msn bellevue@gmail.com skype lord_of_beer - Original Message - From: Holger Fiallo holgerfia...@comcast.net To: PC Audio Discussion List pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2012 5:41 PM Subject: Re: Amazon Desktop Cloud Player what is it? -Original Message- From: Kris Hickerson Sent: Wednesday, May 30, 2012 4:40 PM To: pc-audio@pc-audio.org Subject: Amazon Desktop Cloud Player Hi all, Is the Amazon Desktop Cloud Player accessible?
