I hear that Audicity is free, and I also hear that they're noise reduction
is the best, even better than Soundforge. This is great, but how can this
program be free, rather than having to pay full price for Soundforge? Hope
this helps.

Hello,

I am taking an audio fundamentals class through Cisco Academy for the
Visually Impaired (CAVI) and was told that Multiquence is not screen

friendly, so based on that advice I would tend to stick with Audacity or
Reaper. I have heard from multiple sources that Reaper does work best if

Good evening Hank and list,

A pretty decent and free multi-track sound editor is audacity which can
be

downloaded from
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
The program can also be obtained via unintended installation from
www.ninite.com/audacity. It does a pretty good job and has seamless
looping
and is generally effective at noise reduction. Other multi-track editors
are
Reaper and Sonar, with Sonar being the most expensive. Reaper has a
fairly
generous trial period and is fully functional during the evaluation

Hank,

When you've finished recording a track in reaper, the highlight is at
the end. So you press either, control-home, or home on its
own. Then the file will play from the start.

Just off out, so hope this helps.

Maybe REA access is no un der developement, but as at the last
release of reaper i believe that it worked pretty good.
One of the facilities I like in reaper is that, I can record track
1, say first vocals, guitar, or bass, then monitor that track while
recording next instrumental parts or further dodgy harmonies.

If this can be done in audacity then that might suit me just as well.
But for MIDI and audio then Sonar (costs a few dollars
though) reaper may be best value.
Somebody who has used audacity with extensive midi control could
better advise you.

Have a look at-

Reaper with Reaccess is a possibility but quite flaky.

If you have the patience of Jobe and the willingness to endure a
long, hard learning curve, you could try Sonar.

N-track studio is another possibility but is inaccessible to
screen readers in important places

Sound Forge is a multi-channel editor rather than a multi-track
editor and is morphing into a multi-channel video editor.

Some work has been done to make Pro tools accessible but I don't
know what progress has been made with it.

Good evening Hank and list,

A pretty decent and free multi-track sound editor is audacity which can be
downloaded from
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
The program can also be obtained via unintended installation from
www.ninite.com/audacity. It does a pretty good job and has seamless
looping
and is generally effective at noise reduction. Other multi-track editors
are
Reaper and Sonar, with Sonar being the most expensive. Reaper has a fairly
generous trial period and is fully functional during the evaluation phase.

I'm amazed at how many sighted people use Audacity but I guess the price
is right. I used to listen to a three hour podcast and they had an average
of 50 audio emails every week and most of them were done with audacity. They

blined5sparrow
encouraged people to go download audacity and use it to send in their emails
to the podcast.

Good evening,

The CAVI course offerings are both local at the Association of the Blind of
Western Australia in Perth with a distance learning component complete with
live interactive class presentations and even those lovely timed multiple
choice exams, but not yet in the Audio fundamentals course, at least as of
yet. I would invite you to visit ciscovision.org and Cucat.org for a full
description of the CAVI course offerings including beginning, intermediate,
and advanced courses for aspiring PC technicians. The Audio fundamentals
course is a first time offering. I invite you or anyone else who is
interested to let me know and I will create a distribution list to alert
interested parties if the course is offered again. The tuition is $75 which
is paid via Paypal and is worth every penny of it and even more.

Audacity is probably the best because of the strong support from blind
users.

Have a look at-
http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Audacity-2.0-Guide.html

Reaper with Reaccess is a possibility but quite flaky.

If you have the patience of Jobe and the willingness to endure a long, hard
learning curve, you could try Sonar.

N-track studio is another possibility but is inaccessible to screen readers
in important places

Sound Forge is a multi-channel editor rather than a multi-track editor and
is morphing into a multi-channel video editor.

Some work has been done to make Pro tools accessible but I don't know what
progress has been made with it.

Reaper with Reaccess is a possibility but quite flaky.

If you have the patience of Jobe and the willingness to endure a long,
hard learning curve, you could try Sonar.

N-track studio is another possibility but is inaccessible to screen

Sound Forge is a multi-channel editor rather than a multi-track editor

RE: multi track audio recording in windows?

2012-10-22 Thread Hamit Campos
This reminds me. Sonar I've read can do multi channel too. Has any one done
it? Is it 5.1 or 7.1? The reason I ask is because Yeah, sound forge pro can
do 7.1 surround sound,

But you have to record it live with it or import a file that is7.1 or 5.1
already. Thing is, weeling out a desk top and a mixer aint so practical
from how I look at it. How ever you can record your things on a Sound
Devices 788-T to use later. Here's the catch, you now have 8 plane tracks.
How to make it surround sound is the question. I'm glad to hear Pro Tules is
being worked on. I'll nead it since that's what the movie industry uses a
lot. You're talking about access for it on Windows right? I know that it's
some what accessible on the MAC. How accessible? I know not not having heard
a pod cast on it or tried it my self.

Audacity is probably the best because of the strong support from blind
users.

Good evening Hank and list,

A pretty decent and free multi-track sound editor is audacity which can be
downloaded from
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
The program can also be obtained via unintended installation from
www.ninite.com/audacity. It does a pretty good job and has seamless
looping
and is generally effective at noise reduction. Other multi-track editors
are

Reaper and Sonar, with Sonar being the most expensive. Reaper has a fairly
generous trial period and is fully functional during the evaluation phase.

Re: multi track audio recording in windows?

2012-10-22 Thread Joe Paton

Hank,

There is a keytstroke needed so that the data you want to play after
recording is available. Dan't recall what it is just now, but it works fine.

Maybe REA access is no un der developement, but as at the last
release of reaper i believe that it worked pretty good.
One of the facilities I like in reaper is that, I can record track 1,
say first vocals, guitar, or bass, then monitor that track while
recording next instrumental parts or further dodgy harmonies.

If this can be done in audacity then that might suit me just as
well. But for MIDI and audio then Sonar (costs a few dollars
though) reaper may be best value.
Somebody who has used audacity with extensive midi control could
better advise you.

RE: multi track audio recording in windows?

2012-10-22 Thread Rob Tabor
Hello,

I am taking an audio fundamentals class through Cisco Academy for the
Visually Impaired (CAVI) and was told that Multiquence is not screen reader
friendly, so based on that advice I would tend to stick with Audacity or
Reaper. I have heard from multiple sources that Reaper does work best if you
use the REAAccess plugin. Reaper has also been described by one of my CAVI
instructors as ridiculously customizable. By this he means it is very
flexible when it comes to keystroke remapping. The other side of the coin of
course is being willing to take the time to do the customizing.

Best regards,
Rob Jayhawk Tabor

RE: multi track audio recording in windows?

2012-10-21 Thread Rob Tabor
Good evening Hank and list,

A pretty decent and free multi-track sound editor is audacity which can be
downloaded from
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
The program can also be obtained via unintended installation from
www.ninite.com/audacity. It does a pretty good job and has seamless looping
and is generally effective at noise reduction. Other multi-track editors are
Reaper and Sonar, with Sonar being the most expensive. Reaper has a fairly
generous trial period and is fully functional during the evaluation phase.

HTH and best regards,
Rob Jayhawk Tabor
