I am trying to copy OTR files I have put on my hard drive. Nero version 5.5 pops out the disk before it verifies the data, takes the disk back in and then says drive is empty. I can't figure out why. It will sit there forever saying drive is empty. If I pop out the disk again and let it go back in it will not fix the problem. Also, all verifications come up bad, and I don't know why. Re: Nero problem
Hi Terri, Nero is very particular about burners, and doesn't seem to support as many as other burning software does. I had a USB cdrw drive, that was supported by Nero, but then Nero came with the drive. You might be able to get supported drive imformation from Nero's website, if there isn't any in the documentation that ships with the software. He didn't have this problem, until he connected an external CD burner to his computer. He was using version 5.5 without any problems. Then, when he connected up this external burner it was as if Nero couldn't recognize it. All it shows is that he has that virtual recorder. Well, I remembered having this problem, so I told him that he should try upgrading to version 6, and see if this fixes his problem. So he did that. His problem wasn't solved. And it turns out that this external CD burner is not new, he's had it for about three, or four years. He did update the driver to the latest one he was able to find, so that's not the issue. My thinking now, is that there must be something we need to do, in order for it to work. Or that this particular model won't work with Nero at all. What do you all think? Hi Terri, Then it sounds as though the problem lies with the CD burner. He may need to update the drivers, particularly if he has Windows XP and has installed Service Pack 2. Best. Re: Nero problem
Hi Shirley. In answer to your question on whether you can burn a compilation CD using Nero but taking the tracks directly from CD's rather than your hard drive, well, yes you can. However, this is not recommended because what you're doing here is using the track at once method of burning. With this method, the laser pauses after each track and then has to engage again when ready for the next track. Best results are obtained when using disc at once for music CD's and this can only be achieved by copying a whole CD or by burning a compilation of tracks from your hard drive. Track at once is only recommended when burning data CD's. Regards. also you can make compilations with windows media player providing the music is already on your hard drive its simple to. what you do is this. open windows media player, go to library, make sure you have a blank cd in the cd rw drive. then select each track you want. you can hit the application key when your on each track and go down till you hear add to. open this and it will say burn list, now playing etc. select burn list. do this for every track. once all songs are added tab until you hear start burn. and hit the space bar on that. i am not sure if there is a way in windows media player to have the timeread out..i.e how many minutes the cd is. also is nero is their a way to copy part of a cd, take it out and put in a new one or does the music have to be stored on your hard drive alreayd shirley - Original Message - From: "Kevin Lloyd" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Nero problem
Hi Terri. Try this: Using Nero to burn a compilation from tracks stored on your hard drive Start Nero from the desktop or programs menu. 1.. You can configure Nero to present the new compilation dialogue in preferences. To do this: 1.. Press Alt + F to open the File Menu. 2.. Arrow down to Preferences and press enter 3.. Press spacebar on the first checkbox to check start with New compilation 4.. Tab to the OK button and press spacebar to save the settings. 1.. Now when you start Nero, you will see the new compilation dialogue and you will be placed on the multisession tab. 2.. Press shift + tab until you reach the combo box that allows you to select what task you wish to perform. This will usually be defaulted to CD-ROM which is used for data compilations. 3.. Now choose the format of the CD you would like to burn. Select Audio from the radio buttons if you want a CD that will play in standard CD players or select Data if you want a CD that will be used to contain MP3 tracks that will only be played in an MP3 player. Tab to Next and press enter. 4.. Press enter on the New button and the compilation window will be in focus. 5.. Use the keystroke windows + E to start Windows Explorer. 6.. Locate the tracks you wish to add to your compilation by browsing the folders on your hard drive where they reside. 7.. For selected tracks, use the keystroke control + C to copy them to the clipboard. 8.. Press alt + tab to bring the Nero compilation window back into focus. 9.. Use the keystroke control + V to paste the tracks into the compilation. 10.. Repeat steps 7 through 10 until you have added all of the tracks you want to include in your compilation. 11.. You may now want to reorder the tracks in your compilation. To do this, use the keystroke control + X to cut the track to the keyboard then use the up and down arrow keys to locate the track that you wish to immediately follow the track you've just cut to the clipboard. Use the keystroke control + V to paste the track into the compilation and it will then appear at this point. NOTE: this reordering is only possible if you have chose audio format and not possible for data format. 12.. When you are ready to burn your compilation, close all running applications so that Nero is not competing for your computer's resources. 13.. To burn the compilation, press alt + F to open the file menu and then press W to open the Burn dialogue. 14.. Tab to the Burn button and press enter. Hi Terri. Looks like the wizard has been removed from versions of nero 6.3 and above. At least I can't find it anywhere either. It used to be available from the help menu but now it says use nero express where it used to say use the nero wizard.
