I'm not sure if you mean price wise, but in that case, I would say quite good. We are now moving to a situation where you can buy a $300/$500 recorder with components inside wich is werth a few hundreds of dollars or more. And it is the among a few accessible options out there. And the latest models improved on that, and prices are sometimes a bit lower, sometimes a bit higher depending on the model and microphones and pre amps being used. Hi, I have a dm520 and an ls7. The 520 was about the same price as the 520 , and the sound is just as good as the 520. The only main difference is that the ls7 has a monitoring feature before you record. It also has three three mics. The 520 has has two mics. I have recorded some jazz concerts with my ls7, and they came out very good. I agree, I also couldn't got hold of the ls7 at that time, but I'm glad I didn't, as the newer models suit me better anyway. But yes the higher quality is defnitly a matter here. Yep, that's why my gole now is the LS-100. It too does Blu-Ray quality. But it's a true pro recorder. It's a bit like the famus Zoom H4N according to those that have done pod casts on it. Shape wize anyways. I can't grasp that idea. I don't understand how every thing goes on it. I've only touched a Zoom H2 so I don't comprehend. One thing Neal did say which I found kind of interesting was something to the effect that the reason the XLR connectors stick out in the odd shape they do is because the recorder it self isn't big enough for them. Interesting. Then why not make the recorder a bit bigger then? But yeah. Wel, not really big differences. I had to record on the stream since I con't record and demo at the same time on that recorder, but once I get the ls14 that problem should be solved.
