recording with sound card
Thanks, Harry, and Rob. Unfortunately, I don't have anything in my volume properties called system mixer, or stereo, even though I think that I might have had it several reformattings ago. What shows up is the following: cd audio, line in, and microphone. Would a new sound card solve the problem, or is it the machine that I have - an hp? Thoughts are most welcome. Re: recording with sound card
Hi, go to volume controll from the menu bar choose properties tab once you should be on a radio button. there are 2 options, play back & recording. choose recording. tab to the list of options. be sure to check Stereo Mix. or it may be called "What You Hear", or something simular. then tab to the OK button. now tab to the "Stereo Mix" volume ctrl & set the volume up down slider then tab to make sure it is checked. close volume ctrl with alt+F4. Now you can record anything thats goes through your sound card. - Original Message - From: "Cris Hall" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "pc audio" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Sunday, November 14, 2004 6:49 PM Subject: recording with sound card Is it possible to record files directly onto the computer using the sound card? For example, if I'm listening to something in winamp, can I use a program like mp3 directcut to record it? With stepvoice recorder, it says to use standard window mixer to record streaming audio, but I can't find any such thing on my machine. My master volume control shows cd audio, line in, and microphone. I have an hp machine using jaws 5.1 and windows xp home. I do not have any sound cards other than the one that came inside the computer. Thanks for your help. Re: recording with sound card
Cris, yes I do it all the time. I record from BBC in London using MP3DirectCut, I have XP & Jaws 5.1. I also have a SoundBlaster sound card that I purchased since I disliked the Max soundcard which came with my Gateway in the motherboard.
