Re: winamp playlist question

2007-05-17 Thread Dan Eickmeier
Alan, you should be able to hit enter on the playlist file that
you've saved, and it'll start to play tracks in it.

winamp playlist question

2007-05-17 Thread Allen
Hi,

I am using Winamp 5.35 on Vista Home Premium. I've created a playlist, at
least Winamp said that 25 items were added to my test playlist name. I can see
the name of my playlist which is test, but when I select it and press enter,
the Window closes, and if I press x to play, it asks me for a file name.

How do I play files in my Test playlist? I also have Shuffle selected.

Thanks

RE: winamp playlist question

2006-06-29 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Brandon.

The easiest thing to do is to recreate your playlist in Winamp. You could
edit the m3u file with a text editor and do a search and replace of any path
that has changed. To me, this is more trouble than it's worth. If you want
all the files in a folder to be added, hit SHIFT-L and this will bring up a
list of folders from which you can choose the one you want.

Hope you find this useful.

winamp playlist question

2006-06-28 Thread Brandon Hicks
hi all,
I've created an m3u playlist of my most commonly listened to songs, the ones
i like the best, whatever. I recently moved a bunch of them, though, and was
wondering if there was any other way aside from clearing the non-existent
tracks and readding them and moving them to their places of changing the
location. Like is there a way to tell winamp to look for those files on the
hard drive or in specified folders?
thanks

You need a fully qualified path.

How does Winamp know what directory to use when looking for files in a
playlist? I just created a playlist and saved it, then, when I'd
changed directories in Winamp to hear something else, I went back to
my playlist, and nothing played until I forced Winamp to look in that
particular directory by physically placing the playlist in that
directory. Very odd. What if my playlist consists of tracks from many
different directories? How does Winamp know where to find them if the
path information isn't stored in the playlist?

Re: Winamp Playlist Question

2005-11-17 Thread Steve Matzura
OK, I answered my own question, and I don't like the answer. I have
to do more research and find out just what's what, but it looks like
the following:

Playlists contain full path information for elements which are not in
the directory in which the playlist was saved. This means that
playlists are not portable. To ensure a playlist's portability, it
must be saved in a location other than any location referenced by
elements within it, or the full path to tat element or elements will
not be saved.

Why doesn't the fool thing just save full paths no matter what?
Sheesh.
