Re: [PD] Pd-0.40.3-extended-20080221-macosx104-i386.dmg

2008-02-24 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

Hey,

I think this is of general interest and useful to have in the
archives, so I am cc'ing the list.

The unstable stuff can be a little dodgy, but if the only thing
that's missing is libsndfile1, I think everything should build ok.
AFAIK, [sndfiler] and/or [readanysf~] are not automatically included
in the build, and they are the only ones that need libsndfile1.

As for the Pd-0.40.3-extended-20080221-macosx104-i386.dmg, I built
that on my laptop, which is running 10.4.11.

This must be a Fink issue on 10.5, I've tried using other packages
(ie: tetex-nox-base) but get the same error. I've been working on
this all week, anybody have a better experience?

The following dependencies are in the stable group for 10.5:
flac flac-shlibs libsndfile1 libsndfile1-shlibs libogg libogg-
shlibs libvorbis0 libvorbis0-shlibs libtiff libtiff-shlibs graphviz
pcre pcre-shlibs lua51 lua51-dev ladspa ladspa-dev lame-dev lame-
shlibs

(Note: libsndfile1 above is the only dependency which won't compile
as unstable)

The following are unstable:
fftw3 fftw3-shlibs liblo0 liblo0-shlibs ffmpeg ffmpeg-dev
libavcodec1-dev libavcodec1-shlibs libdv4 libdv4-shlibs speex3
speex3-shlibs

One of two scenarios always occur:
1. I can build all the dependencies as unstable, and not get the
error above, but then libsndfile1 won't compile.

2. Failed: Internal error: node for ptex-nox-base already exists

Maybe there is a secret combination of steps one could take to get
the full kit to build, but I haven't found it yet. I'm running
Fink 0.28.11, which you can get from Fink's sourceforge page.'

Hans, did you build the Pd-extended below on 10.4?

Hallo!

First: do you use the autobuilds or the stable pd-extended ?

what is the problem that (in pd-extended) abbreviated object classes
like mtx_+ cannot be instantiated, I have to create mtx_add before.

Because the hexloader was broken - I don't know if this is already fixed
in the autobuilds ...

I think this is a known problem, but is there a solution to fix this?
also, some of the objects can't be created, but I am not sure why for
example mtx_add is one of these. is there a nameclash so that iemmatrix
 is not loaded by default?

I once included all the iemmatrix objects and also it's aliases. They
should be in the nightly autobuild version, although I don't know if the
hexloader works (at least it should work with mtx_add, mtx_div, ...).
However, I don't think that they should be loaded by default, but that's
an other discussion ... ;)

I have the same problem with [s2l] and [l2s] objects, you must create

Here, [shell] can't create even with [import flatspace] (it is the

2008-02-24 Thread Brandon Zeeb
Cool, that's good to know. I'll try again this week, and attempt to
score all packages but libsndfile1. (I may have this Fink
configuration backed up).

As for Tcl/tk on 10.5, should I upgrade to 8.4.18, 8.5.1, or stick
with what I have standard?

By the way, thanks a bunch for building extended for Mac/Intel.

Thanks a bunch guys. Cheers,

(ie: tetex-nox-base) but get the same error. I've been working on
this all week, anybody have a better experience?

The following dependencies are in the stable group for 10.5:
flac flac-shlibs libsndfile1 libsndfile1-shlibs libogg libogg-
shlibs libvorbis0 libvorbis0-shlibs libtiff libtiff-shlibs graphviz
pcre pcre-shlibs lua51 lua51-dev ladspa ladspa-dev lame-dev lame-

as unstable)

I checked it on linux and it seems the only difference between the

Ok, got a bit closer on this one, finally. It seems that all of the
code is the same up thru tcl_mess() in t_tkcmd.c. Once the tcl data
from sys_vgui() is sent to the tcl process and chopped up into
distinct commands, tcl_mess() is used to send the command to the Tcl
process (tk_pdinterp is the tcl process, s is the command):

 result = Tcl_Eval(tk_pdinterp,  s);

I tried to print out s here, but I couldn't get it to show up. It
seems that stderr is a bit strange on Windows. My hunch is that
something on Windows is eating the $, and therefore causing this
problem.

Anyone know a way to get this to show up on the Windows console:

 fprintf(stderr, tcl_mess: %s\n, ms);

To make your life easier, start with Tcl/Tk 8.4.18. Then once you
get things building, try 8.5. It includes a lot of improvements on
Mac OS X, so it would be good to switch to it soon.

[PD] pdcon brasil

2008-02-24 Thread PORRES
hi folks, we will attempt to organize a very nice encounter here in Brazil by
the time Castonguay comes to Sao Paulo in a few months. In the event,
discussions about organizing an international event here will take place. I am
receiving a rather shy feedback from people down here, mostly, I believe,
because they feel kinda intimidated... nevertheless, plans of national wise and
region wise events are being conducted and the idea will be on hard sale
efforts!

I think it`s fair, anyway, that other possible venues can appear and dispute,
the competition may help reaching some essential requirements.

The latest page about pdcon brasil is being migrated (and edited), as I write
this message, at the estudio livre (free studio) website.

Using fprint(stdout... in the msys bash shell worked. It did not
work in the CMD.EXE shell window, nothing shows up. Plus fprint
(stderr... doesn't seem to work anywhere. Arg, Windows is a pain...

So now, printing out the Tcl commands shows the $ in $text_color,
