If you're interested in helping us testing this project before the official release, please write us off list. Joined is a brief description of the project, Thanks, Cyrille & Nicolas -- ÉGRÉGORE Egrégore is originally an audiovisual performance realized in 2011 that exploits the group movement phenomenas. Complex and expressive behaviors are generated and controlled by a computer and transcribed in sound and image. A crowd of particles deploys itself, reorganizes, blends into living structures more or less coherent, evolving from a chaotic movement towards a cohesive group. ÉGRÉGORE - SOURCE Egregore - source is an edition that aims to archive and document the performance: all the elements in égrégore - optimized for a standard personal computer - are supplied: the instrument created for the performance, the software that enabled the creation of the performance and a document of usage, all under a free license and with source code. A digital version is freely downloadable on the P2P networks and a usb key with all this data will as well be available. DISTRIBUTED PERFORMANCE This instrument will be played live remotely by chdh the XX.XX.2014. The distribution of the code allows to use this "physical" dispersion as a new performance vector. The different personal computers used to decode the contents of the key, geographically distributed around the world, united to each other by internet constitute the "stage" where takes place this new representation of égrégore. This event allows all, thanks to the distributed software, to connect at the same moment, to meet and to attend a new version of the performance. ___ Pd-announce mailing list pd-annou...@iem.at http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-announce [2] ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list [3] Links: -- [1] http://www.chdh.net/egregore [2] http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-announce [3] http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

Re: [PD] Creating a line in Gem
Hi... A [curve 2] will give you a perfect line. With [cos ] and [sin ] you could "easyly" convert the angle in x, y for the second point... But, I'm not sure that using a rectangle, in your case, is neither so difficult... Before the rotation, you just have to translate the rectangle of the half of the lenght it grows. It's not a "trick" and works very precisely. Cheers. 01ivier Le 18.12.2012 12:46, Alexandros Drymonitis a écrit : Hi all, I've been trying to render a line in Gem, so I'm wondering if it's best to use [curve] (which is actually a curve as it indicates), or [rectangle] with a very small x value, so that it looks like a line. My problem is that I want to give this line an angle, so I've been using [shearXY] for now. I also want to make the line grow from nothing to the full desired length, but with [rectangle] it will grow from the middle, so in order to make it grow from the starting point to the ending point, you have to give [rectangle] a continuous x,y offset. This way it's really hard to determine the starting and ending point of the line. So, If for example the x,y coordinates of the starting and ending point are random, then the angle and length will also be random and you'll have to manipulate three different objects simultaneously ([rectangle], [translate] and [shearXY]), and I'm not sure if I can find the formula for all these calculations. Is there an easier technique for this? Re: [PD] Pd applications for the blind or other disabled
Hi... I've done this patch few months ago : http://yamatierea.org/papatchs/#1-terface It's an interface for people who can just push one contactor (with the chin for exemple). You can choose the number of the lines, columns, the cursor's speed an have a specific action for each square. I've also worked with blind people, and as this sequencer ( http://yamatierea.org/papatchs/squareroom/OSR.htm) can be used with gamepad it's possible to compose (and make animation) without the screen. It had not been made for, but it was fun... :-) With cranial trauma, I've use this one ( http://yamatierea.org/papatchs/#detc-mvt) for them to make music with their movements. It could be use with blind people. Hope it'll be usefull. [PD] Line comportments.
Hi, I noticed different strange comportments with [line]. 1) When I send, for exemple, [100 1( to a [line] for the second time the line give me 100 during 10 sec. I expected it no to give me anything as it is said in the help-file : "You should also note that if you click that [bng] again a second time, nothing happens. This is because [line] is already at 1000, so sending it new instructions to ramp to 1000 is meaningless and has no effect." 2) When I send [stop( to the line I can get the last send value in the [number \ I've put under. OK. But this last value is not use as the new beginning of the next ramp. It's the last ramp's beginning that is. Whereas if I send new taget and time during the ramp it's the current value which is use as the beginning value for the ramp. 3) I tried to put a [sel ] under the [line ] (with sure sent value by the line) to reset the line, or to stop the ramp. But the result is different if the bang is send from the [sel] than if I click it manually. --> If I bang manually [stop( the ramp stop, an I get the last value. --> If the [sel ] bang [stop( the ramp stop but send me the last beginning value. I try to put a [i]--[change] under the line expecting to solve the 1) problem... but it doesn't work. Is it the same for everyone ? I use 0.42.5-extended-rc5 on Ubuntu Lucid. Thank you. 01ivier. ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

Hello, I've have reproduce several times on different computer, with different graphic cards, something looks like a bug with [cube ]. (always on pd-ext 0.42.5 rc4 // Lucid ) If I open a patch with a cube without loadbanging any "draw" option I can rotate it and have perfect shadows. But if I send a [draw fill( message... something weird happens... faces are not at the good place (or something like that)... and it's impossible to get back the original cube anymore. It is the same for everyone ? I precise that there is no problem with cylinder, or sphere object... only with cube... I've attached minimalist patch to make tests... Re: [PD] Jack, Pd-extended, Lucid and me.
Thank you Pedro for all your tests and posts... You said you are on an Ubuntu 9.10. Do you use the pd-extended 0.42.5 nightly auto-builded or did you build a 0.41.4 for 9.10 ? On monday, I will try to run my patch with the 0.42.5 rc4 on an Hardy... we will see if it works or not... My problem is that I can't install Ubuntu 8.04 on my new laptop because it's too young for all his hardware to be recognized. And I confirm that everything is working fine with an Hardy, Pd-ext 0.41.4 and jack from the official repository. 01ivier. 2010/7/7 Pedro Lopes > I was on the train so I had to kill some time :) > > I tried running jack with buffer size 4k and it worked a lot better, using > H4 usb audio. [PD] Jack, Pd-extended, Lucid and me.
Hi. I'm going to try to expose the problems I've met during the last two month dealing with the title of my post. Sorry if it's confused. This winter, I used to work on an Ubuntu Hardy, Extended 0.41.4 and with the jackd and qjackctl from the official repository (by the way, my sound card is a firewire Presonus Firepod). I had no problem to use 4 different instances of Pd at the same time using jackd as sound server. (and I can precise I didn't need RT-kernel to do what I wanted). I recently change for Ubuntu Lucid. So I also change for Pd 0.42.5 (rc4) and the new official jackd and qjackctl. If I use the kernel 2.6.32-23, I can play my patch on one instance, it's stable but the sound crunch a little bit sometimes. I also can execute my patch on 4 instances, but the sound is awful and 3 minutes later, Jack quit. So I've try the 2.6.31-11-rt. In Pd-ext, If I change directly from ALSA to Jack, pd quit. Every time I have to change to OSS before to choice Jack and I can't save the jack configuration. On one instance the sound is perfect and stable. It's possible to launch 4 instances without patch and to hear simultaneously the 4 tests tones on my sound card using jack. But it's impossible to launch even 2 instances with my patch. Both quit at the same time when I try to pass from OSS to Jack on the second. Console message just tell me that GUI of Pd have quited. My patch is the one you can find on this page : http://yamatierea.org/papatchs/squareroom/OSR.htm Direct link for the patch : http://yamatierea.org/papatchs/squareroom/OSR.zip But be careful if you look inside... it's still a little bit fuzzy... Do you think there is a way to solve my problem ? --> Using my patch, simultaneously on 4 instances of Pd-extended using Jack on Ubuntu 10.04? Re: [PD] Fwd: l'franglais, et éventuellement d e retour à PureData...
Goodjour, When I have questions about Pd, I usually start with going on http://codelab.fr/pure-data to ask it in french... If no one give me answer I come on this list and try to be understood in english. Otherwise, I think the french activity around Pd is significantly increasing... Something like 5 events dealing with art and code (Pd, Processing, Max, ...) have been organised in 2010 in France by the people who post on codelab.fr and the next one will be the 10th of july (it's the event Matohawk came here to talk about). We (Ping and Labomedia, two french associations) are working on a toolkit to facilitate the organisation of workshop dealing with interaction, art and multimedia... We're still on the way but the victory is coming soon. Sure Pd is gonna win. Yeepee. 01ivier Le 26 juin 2010 19:49, Stef a écrit : > > I'm french and I understand why some needs french translation but I don't > think french people should speak french on this list. [PD] Tracking color with GEM+Pdp
Hi, I would like to track different colors at the same time with my web cam so I've try different way. I begun in GEM with [pix_movement] and/or [pix_alpha] and/or [pix_background]. It was quite good until I wanted only one tracking. With two, it begun more complicate to configure [pix_alpha] in RGBA to dissociate the spots. So, I've tried [pdp_ctrack] which is very powerful but in some situations it would be better to process only with moving pixel. I thought [pix_2pdp] would be the solution to use [pix_movement] before [pdp_ctrack] but it seem not to work with [pix_video] in RGBA colorspace, and in YUV I loose the color information after the [pix_movement] process... (By the way, I can't have simultaneously my webcam in GEM and in Pdp with [pix_2pdp], but, maybe, it's normal) What can I do ? Is there a [pix_movement] for Pdp I didn't find yet ? Is there a way to chose precisely the color to configure [pix_alpha] ? (maybe by converting the colorspace with [pix_rgb2hsv] but what to do after ?). Of course, if you have a solution for tracking color without answering my questions, I'm still interested. :-p Thanks. 01ivier ___ Pd-list@iem.at mailing list UNSUBSCRIBE and account-management -> http://lists.puredata.info/listinfo/pd-list

Re: [PD] Ubuntu Realtime setup
It works on my Ubuntu 10.04 with the extended 0.42.5 nightly auto-build. Notice that for the specific case of [joystick ] you need to replace the [open joystick $1( inside with [open $1( since the extended 0.39.3... I hope it'll help. 01ivier 2010/5/7 Pierre Massat > Does this work on recent distributions? I've tried different things > involving /dev/input/, to no avail in Fedora 12. Re: [PD] Ubuntu Realtime setup
To use [joystick ] which uses [hid ] without having to run Pd as root I make a "sudo chmod -R 777 /dev/input/" after pluging the devices... I'm not sure to answer the question but maybe it'll help someone else... :-) 01ivier 2010/5/7 Pierre Massat > Does anybody know how to have access to HIDs in Pd without having to run as > root? [PD] Open Square Room 1.0
Hi... I'm happy to inform you that the 1.0 version of the Open Square Room is available here : http://yamatierea.org/papatchs/squareroom/OSR.htm It is a little audio and visual sequencer which can be used either with mouse, joysticks, wii remotes or MIDI keyboard by four persons simultaneously... I'm sorry that the web-site and the patch are actually only in french, but it's possible to test the basics functions without any french notion... Maybe it could be usefull to know that it was developed on a Ubuntu 8.04 with Pd-extended 0.41.4. It seems to work with other systems and configuration but I 've not tested by myslef. It's far from a bulletproof development but it works... (on my computer... :-p ).
