Haha, yeah, this one will probably need a bug fix release soon, let's see.

thanks!

Congrats on the release all. Sorry, the timing was bad for me to do much this
time around. I can do a libpd update in the meantime...

Drat, I already built 0.54-0 before seeing this.  Don't worry, it will
make it into 0.54-1 which I'm sure will be needed before long :)

I have to say I'm getting really annoyed and not used to the new
hot area around outlets. Many many times I just want to click on
an object and drag it but end up pulling out an undesired cord.
Too late to do anything about it but that's it, maybe I could
suggest we could set this up in preferences.

As for the documentation updates, I wanted to better describe the
new features of sigmund~, add some examples, but I needed a bit
more time to figure things out a bit. I'm also worried the version
number won't get updated from 0.7 to 0.8 or something. I'll see if
I can revise its help file a bit and change the version.

ah thanks, that's the trick.

so the new resizing code kicks in if you ever change the
default font of
the Pd-console.
since this change is remembered in the GUI-settings, the
console is
resized for future restarts of Pd (until you clear all the
settings).

it's probably something that ought to be fixed, but I think
it's low
priority (as in: let's not hold this back the Pd-0.54 release)

actually i had code that would make the Pd console *bigger* so it can
hold a string of 80 chars (which to me is more sensible than the meagre
43 chars).

this commit (f85b718ed57340ca2182bf6415a4c5f8bf3b3dff) was actually merged.
i'm not sure why it's not being triggered. (the unfortunate thing is,
that it's practically only me who touched the relevant files since then)

I couldn't find a 0.54-0test2 tag, so I tested current master
(49daa9b42894).

I couldn't spot any show stoppers. Tabbed preferences are nice. To my
surprise, I don't see any GUI redrawing anymore triggered by data
structures, which makes the GUI much more responsive (compared to
before).

One minor thing: Recently, the Pd console font got bigger, which makes
it the Pd window look even smaller. 43 chars/line is way too narrow.

I did a Windows build for 49daa9b and tested for:

  - Audio settings (including WASAPI sample-rate changing)

  - MIDI settings

  - Tabbed preferences

  - HTML files

and it all went good.

As for the "Windows installer" I tested
https://git.iem.at/pd/pure-data/-/pipelines/11535 yesterday and it went
good.
