Rechargeable NiMh AA's work well, and pretty inexpensive to replace when
they wear out. You can also keep a set of lithium AA's in the bag for,
just in case.

This will either quietly kill it off, or they will change it in Revision
B and include proprietary rechargeable battery packs. You heard it here first.

The will have to pass Detroit to get out of the lakes. So camp down on the
waterfront. I have to admit there are a few things I miss about my home
town. Not enough to move back though.

Am I missing something here or is this list almost dead? Things have been

Re: salt spray on camera

2003-08-06 Thread brooksdj
Over the weekend I took a ferry ride and got
salt spray
on my camera,
lens, monopod and ballhead. I wiped everything down with a napkin right
afterwards, and when I got home about an hour later I went over
everything again with a damp paper towel and followed with a dry towel.
The lens was covered with a UV filter, which I washed with soap water.

So, is my stuff safe from salt corrosion or is there something more I
 need to do?

 Thanks,
 Amita

In 1975 i dropped my SP500 in the Pacifac Ocean off the Queen Charlotte Islands

wiped it thoroughly for an hour with napkins cloths etc. Then i let it sit in the

15 min in the

I still have the camera with only a CLA in 2000 to fix a sticky shutter.
Hope that helps

Re: Selling my Pentax MX, ME and lenses ??

2003-08-06 Thread T Rittenhouse
Well for automatic fill flash. Set your auto flash for one stop lower ASA
than the film in the camera. That's easy enough.

The MX and ME Super are prehaps the lowest vibration cameras Pentax ever
made. If you are having a problem with yours have the mirror bumper foam
replaced, should not cost much. In fact a full foam replacement, and CLA,
may be in order if it has not been done in the last 10 years or so.

The 28/2.8 has the repatation of being the worst lens Pentax ever made,
trade it for a 3.5. There is one thing certain, if those two cameras are in
proper working order they will take photos as good as any 35mm camera made.
The newer cameras have more features is all, and to many of us that means
you have to learn how to probram features as well as learning photography.
Twice the work for no extra gain. Of course, if you are not interested in
learning photography...

I have decided to sell my Pentax MX, ME super and
 lenses, 28mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.7, 75-150 f/4 zoom.
Unless somebody can convince me it is a mistake.

Why am I selling? Quite simply I want several things
these cameras can't deliver. I want an automatic
fill-flash system, some kind of vibration reduction so
I can handhold shots when I travel and can't use a
tripod. So give me your thoughts if you like.

 sob, sob. :)

The Basic process is; open a new project (file new, select type), drop files,
subs to be copied, check that the compilation will fit the media and then
select the left compilation file display and then open write dialogue (file,
write CD), set you actions under the burn tab in the dialogue box then hit
the write button on the right.

Nero will allow you to drag a directory to the New compilation. Assuming that
you have your windows in a vertical format (you can select the view format
under Window in the menu) you can drag files or subs from either of the two
right hand panes into either of the left hand panes. I'm running 5.5.10.42. It
will let you know if the paths are too long or if file names are inappropriate
unless you over-ride the checks in the Write CD dialogue window.
