1. Thanks.
2. No, there is URL, because JAlbum is private printing for oneself, not
public printing such as Blurb.
3. I think one copy starts at USD 43 or so and price goes down as number
of copies goes up. The shipping is FedEx flat rate up to 10 copies.

4. There are no on-line previews, but I am thinking of making one.

 Hi List,

 Since a while now I had a Tamron Adaptall SP f2.5 24mm (01BB) that I
didn't really use. Lately the only thing I did with this lens is
freelensing, but after 10-15 freelensing photos my sensor just got too
dirty :D So I've decided to modify the lens into a permanent freelensing
solution, something like the Lensbaby is. Took the lens and totally
shaved off everything from it except what's the base of the lens
(literally the metal parts around the glass parts) so I will have a bit
more room to play with without any collision. Also took the Tamron
Adaptall PK mount and removed all the parts except the mount itself. The
two is linked together with some high precision super bending mechanics
made out of extra high level special elastic material (*coughs* a piece
of a bike inner tube) and voila, here's my own better-than-lensbaby
super new lens system: Zie Zelektor 24mm! :)

As we had a street party at Tottenham I took the lens for a walk and I
just loved playing around with it. Mastering the use of it still needs
LOADS of practice but I am already loving the results I've got. So
here's the flickr set dedicated my new toy (including a picture of the
Zelektor mounted on my Pentax K-r):

 Best Regards,

Ps.: Since the tube is a bit longer than it has to be I can use it as a
 macro lens as well :)

Is photographic overload possible? I think it is. My copies of the 3
annuals arrived this morning. I'm pleasantly overloaded by all the
top stuff in them, and hugely inspired at the same time.

Many thanks to Mark and his editorial team for their hard work - the
quality is simply outstanding. I am quietly chuffed, as well as

 Thanks again for the opportunity.

PESO: Wild Turkeys

2011-05-02 Thread Jack Davis
Was recently visiting my brother in the heavily settled San Jose, CA area. He
is hopelessly involved in electric powered RC airplanes. I went along with him
to enjoy his hobby together with a number of like minded graying headed persons.
I found it good BIF practice.
When he had had his fix, we took a short drive around the area and came across
a band of wild turkeys. Had to shoot it, of course, and find the homogeneous
cover pleasing..for some reason.

 Hi!

My JAlbum book, titled laconically - Israel has arrived yesterday. FedEx

my co-workers insisted on buying a copy. That was kind of neat especially
now that I have to come up with a sentence or two to accompany my signature

It contains 36 photographs and JAlbum's printing quality is superb.

If you'd like a copy, it can be easily arranged as I most certainly don't
look to make any profit whatsoever from this. It was done only for fun and

Re: Learned something today

Collin,
I like and have used the original FA28-105/4-5.6 and A35-103/3.5.
My preference would be the FA for autofocus and overall quality.
(I almost threw away the PZ-1 on account of the miserable kit FA28-80)
The A35-105 is heavy glass and good with an occasional unexpected flare
from the big front element.

Re: PESO: Wild Turkeys

2011-05-02 Thread Jack Davis
Thanks, Bob! I understand it to be part of a County park system. It's very well
used with hiking trails, rest rooms and convenient well maintained roadways and
parking areas. Thus, the wildlife is more acquainted with meandering people
than more remote areas. I've been there a number of times and have never heard
anyone complain about unruly visitors.
Brother reports seeing a large variety of wild animals and birds.
He now has my K10D and am looking forward to seeing what he captures. ;)

 Jack,
Nice image and very pleasing composition.  I love the
 turkeys on the diagonal.
You are also quite close.  When I've seen turkeys,
they have been either far off
or very skittish and moving away from us.  The ground
 cover is pleasing.

I have the 24-90 and use it a lot--it is one beautiful lens, especially for

2011-05-02 Thread David Parsons
There is one that is living on a street behind one of the malls near
me. It's been there several months now, and the residents of the
street have named it the Common Street Turkey (CST). I keep a watch
out for when every time I drive down that street. It stops traffic
sometimes when it decides to walk down the center of the street. I
got a picture with my iPod once when it was right next to my car,
pecking at my tires.

This one staked a claim on a traffic island near my house for about
two weeks before it disappeared:

It contains 36 photographs and JAlbum's printing quality is superb.

If you'd like a copy, it can be easily arranged as I most certainly don't

The photos are in the same order as they appear in the book. Thus each
pair of photos is a spread.

Accidentally one of the photos of Galia's book is obviously heavily
processed (by me). That's my mistake, really.

As you can see, most of these are PESOs, PUGs and some of them
appeared in PDML Annual books by Mark. But I should say that in print
they look better than on the screen. At least to me, although of
course I am not a disinterested party here.
