PESO - Awesome: no tears on crocodile monitor
A thoughtfully-looking guy with a funny-sounding name: http://42graphy.org/misc/CrocodileMonitor_IR29379.jpg No, it is not a crocodile, nor a part of crocodile's computer. Rather, it is believed to be warning about crocodiles that are nearby... And at Moody Gardens' Rainforest Pyramid, it is called Mr. Awesome. http://blog.moodygardens.com/tag/crocodile-monitor/ And formally it is called "Varanus Salvadorii": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varanus_salvadorii All comments are welcome! PESO:
One of the images I considered for the December PUG, "TOOLS" This a remnant of an old dock on Kewakapu Beach, Maui. Depending on how much of the beach has been washed away by winter storms, at times this is all that remains; at other times, a foot or two of concrete and steel emerge from the fine sand. This was apparently a dock where cattle from the ranches on Haleakala Volcano were loaded onto boats or barges to take them to Lahaina, on the other side of the island, or to Honolulu. Cattle was a big business on the island, and still is today. http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18137493=lg K-r with 18-135 zoom Comments are invited. I think it's a brilliant photo! However... Would you consider cropping out that building on the left? Just turn your "landscape" orientation into a square frame. Interesting subject Boris but the composition needs improvement IMO. Not sure what you want me to look at.
