Re: OT: Monitor Specs
Hdmi is digital, cha is analog. Hdmi-to-vga "adapter" actually needs to be a digital -to-analog converter. But IIRC, some video cards can send an analog signal if they sense a simple adapter. ... or something like that... I forgot the details. So, even if your video card can do that , your hdmi-dvi adapter doesn't create that condition. So, you either need a correct direct hdmi-vga adapter (I bought one from Amazon for $10-17), or you need an hdmi-vga converter, if the video card is not capable. Situation with dvi is probably similar. Igor Sent from mobile phone Mark C Wed, 27 Apr 2016 14:36:24 -0700 wrote: I hope to by adapter free with the new monitor. Re: PESO - A few grains of pepper
Jostein, It doesn't bother me that the background peppercorns are much less sharp than the foreground one. What bothers me about the focus is the abrupt transition in the surface the peppercorns are resting on, from textured to softly smooth. It's as though a guy with sandpaper said "Ah, screw it" and walked off when he was just behind the front peppercorn. I've never done focus stacking and I have no idea how to avoid, or correct, that problem! Re: I don't get "unboxing" photos/videos
I don't "get" unboxing videos is apparently not the same as I don't "watch" unboxing videos. :) I learned a long time ago that there are two different people in the world: Those who love Neil Diamond and those that don't. Bonus points to those who get the movie reference. :) Seriously, the two categories I was thinking of are those who are happy for others' good fortune and those who are jealous of others' good fortune. People who produce unboxing videos MAY in fact do so because they are jealous of other's good fortune and want to incite that envy in others. But if you are a person who is happy at others' good fortune, then you may be doing it without such a motive. So, in a simple diagram you could set up the 4 conditions in the four corners of a square: Envy-inciting motivated video producers + envious of others viewers Envy-inciting motivate video producers + happy for others viewers Non-envy-inciting motivated video producers + envious of others viewers Non-envy-inciting motivated video producers + happy for others viewers I'm going to be kind an think that your post was NOT motivated by an envy-inciting way to remind everyone that you are getting a K-1 while they, perhaps are not, at this juncture. :) :) :) On Wed, Apr 27, 2016 at 12:29 PM, Mark Roberts wrote: > ...but if they're trying to make me feel bad that they have their K-1 > and I don't it's working ;-) > > -- > PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List > PDML@pdml.net > http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net > to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow > the directions. -- “The Earth is Art, The Photographer is only a Witness ” ― Yann Arthus-Bertrand, Earth from Above -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Re: OT: Monitor Specs
I think I already have the cables that I need, so hopefully I am OK. An irony about my current setup is that both monitors are using adapters. The one with the VGA port is connected to the card's sole DVI port with an adapter, and the one with a DVI port is connected to the HDMI port on the card, again with an adapter. I could not easily locate an HDMI to VGA or DIsplayPort to VGA adapter locally and wound up with this setup. Dealing with adapters is possible but could be an extra headache.
