Today I discovered that when you are resizing a photo, pressing Alt

Probably many people knew that, - but if you didn't, - it could be
useful.

In general, this makes me thinking how many other "hidden"

Re: Canada Ho

2016-11-10 Thread John

Canada's too cold. Plus their server is apparently down for the count.

I read somewhere that the cost of living in Spain is a lot lower,
especially for medical care.

For the average cost of a hip replacement here in the U.S., you can buy
round trip airfare, have the hip replacement done, live modestly on the
economy for two years while you learn the language, run with the bulls
in Pamplona and finish up with a second hip replacement to repair any
damage done as a result of your little adventure before flying back home.

I figure that since I don't NEED the hip replacement, and if I skip the
bulls, I can extend my "full immersion Spanish" course.

As much trouble as I've had in my previous attempts to learn a foreign
language, four years might be enough.

for the last 8 years, because... I'm not really sure why, since any good
feelings over Bill had long since evaporated, and Hillery had all the

a tiny LR discovery

2016-11-10 Thread Igor PDML-StR

After having been working with LR for many years, I keep discovering
certain functionalities in it.
Today I discovered that when you are resizing a photo, pressing Alt while
grabbing a corner of the image will resize proportionally in ALL 4
directions.

(If I remember correctly,"Option" is the equivalent of "Alt" key on Mac.)

Probably many people knew that, - but if you didn't, - it could be useful.

In general, this makes me thinking how many other "hidden" capabilities
are there in LR that I will never discover ;-)

Perhaps the crappy quality of some of the photos is a side effect of
hiring the kind of photographers who don't care about their
copyrights? That's a deal breaker for many pros unless they're well
compensated for doing work for hire — and this story indicated they
weren't paid well at all.

Thanks for looking, Malcolm.

This sign was for a vendor at an outdoor farmers' market neat the Railroad

For some reason, the New Mexico desert draws a lot of attention from the
UFO crowd.

Thanks Jack.

It does lift the area and it's well painted. However, I have an issue with
the photograph!

As I said in the original post, it's on the end of a small parade of shops,
but the bottom of the painting is probably about 5 foot above the ground,
where the brickwork turns to a rendered finish that can be painted. As such,
it's difficult to get any interaction with the image; taken from further
back there are too many distractions, and there is no way easily for any
living bird to perch in the picture. So, what I'm left with is a photograph
of the work of someone else. Apart from recording the scene, have I added
anything else to it, as in effect, all I have done is put that work in a
frame?
