Don't tell the Missus...

2017-01-18 Thread Bipin Gupta
Hello to Our Sweet Ann, I mentioned in the Post "just in Zest".
Yet Larry took it so seriously. Tut tut Larry.

Ann, I am happily married to Madhuri, an Industrial Psychologist, since 1972.
Our Home Town is Bangalore, India, but we spend most of our time in
the US or Canada.
We love both these places - beautiful people.
We are NRIs - Non Resident Indians.

Thanks God, no Divorce , inspite of offers from so many pretty Women
in North America.
And the reason for the "No Divorce"?
I am a Foodie, and Madhuri makes yum yum Western + Indian + Chinese Dishes.
Plus she never asks me about the Photo stuff I buy. She says you are
happily retired now & you can
buy all the "Toys" you like.

Honestly Ann, I am stuck with the K-5 IIs and have not yet seen the
need to buy the K-1. So no need for
permission from the Missus.

And hey Larry, whats your comment, to this one - "The Prettiest Women
to photograph are from the Indian
Sub Continent", and the "Sari draped over her body is oh so . sexy"??

May the Force be with you All.
Bipin.

Re: Things just keep getting more interesting

2017-01-18 Thread Igor PDML-StR

Larry,

I thought it was spelled "dike"...
but what can you expect from this pun-net of Pentplorables?!
;-)

There is a funny comment written below the entry for "dyke"
on Merriam-Webster online page:

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/dyke
And it mentions "the story of the little boy that stuck his finger in the
hole in the dyke and saved Holland."

(read the entire comment on that page)

By the way, here is the Wikipedia page elaborating on that story about the
Dutch boy who plugged a dike with his finger:

http://goo.gl/JeuJa9

Cheers,

Igor

PS. Speaking of the "interesting" things, - I will spare the list from the
photos of a 12.5-foot beam suddenly separating from the top of the vaulted
ceiling and hanging on the light fixture wire, and a 24-foot beam that
luckily did not quite do that yet. All those were a result of the
unusually strong (for this area) hard freeze (16 F (-9 C)) several nights
in a row, followed next day by high 70's-80 F. (+24-- +26 C). Fortunately,
the beams are not structural.

Re: A puzzlement...

2017-01-18 Thread John

It's a known problem with Yahoo & email lists. Yahoo adds some kind of
marker to mailing list messages suggesting they *might* be spam.

Gmail sees that marker & decides they *are* spam.

There doesn't seem to be any way to tell Gmail that Yahoo is EFFED-UP
and vice versa. Nor does there appear to be any way to tell Yahoo to NOT
add the marker.

Don't ask me for details, I'm just repeating what I remember of the
explanation given here when it first started happening a couple years back.

The Kaikoura coast is very scenic, maybe if you're lucky the road will have
reopened by then. If it
hasn't, the alternative route through the Lewis Pass is also spectacular. If
wine is your thing,
there are plenty of wineries in Marlborough and Central Otago. Dunedin and
Christchurch are both
very nice.

PESO Shy Julie

2017-01-18 Thread Paul Stenquist
I’m back at the pool hall for the annual tournament, and I’ve just started
rendering tonights pics. But I’ve fallen in love with this one. This is Julie
Katz, a hairdresser and lovely lady. Her backside was featured prominently in
the PDML Annual a few years ago, but she’s actually quite shy. Lovely lady.

I should have mentioned, it’s ISO 20,000. Very low light with the K-1 and D FA
24-70/2.8. F 4.5 @ 1/50th. K-1 did a good job of focusing in very low light.

Re: Tips for photographing Australia/New Zealand?

2017-01-18 Thread David Mann
On our visits to Sydney we've found public transport to be pretty good outside
of rush hour. We haven't used the buses but we use the rail and ferry services
quite a lot. But we normally just travel within the CBD with a trip or two
across to Manly. We'd buy a multi-day pass to cover the length of our stay but
I think it's all changed to the Opal card since we were last over there. I
assume it's similar to the Myki in Melbourne which we found very good.

http://www.transportnsw.info/en/tickets/index.page?

Note the airport rail connection is quite expensive but it's not far in a taxi.
I think the prices work out fairly similar.

Cheers,
Dave
