The "rumor" didn't made sense from the beginning: *we* don't know the
details about the Ricoh-Hoya deal, but Ricoh definitely does.
Yet we're supposed to believe that Ricoh - who is preparing for the
November anniversary - is either a. unaware they would lose the right
to Pentax brand or b. investing money into promoting the brand then
suddenly stop?

Absolutely. The big jumo was FCS 2 to 3 back in 2007? In any event now FCP7 is
not supported anymore (having been replaced with FCPX) but I still use it every

it is of course DPReview, they have a long history of Canikon bias, no
one except the big two made digital cameras that they had to care about,
for about 10 years.  It would simplify their jobs, possibly into non
existence, though I doubt they realize that, if there were only one or

2019-06-11 Thread P. J. Alling

That may be reading too much into it.

However, I have noticed that the demand for the K-3 and K-3II, is
unabated.  One appeared on KEH.com just a few days ago.  I thought
seriously about buying it, and by the time I decided to pull the
trigger, it was gone.  Less than an hour.  They are not easy to find on
the used market, from reputable sources, and the NIB cameras seem to
sell for more than original list.

There's a thirst for a Pentax K mount, APS-C, camera at a level
somewhere between the D7xxx and the D500,  Ricoh is failing to meet, and
they know it because they keep promising.

Pentax is known for smaller and lighter DSLR cameras, the battery grip
is antithetical to that Idea.  Useful yes, but better to have a high
capacity battery than having to add a grip.

True the K-1 is a biggish camera to begin with, but add the grip and it
becomes more of Studio rig, and everyone knows Pentax doesn't make
professional equipment. just ask DPReview.

I would expect if Ricoh has a camera they want to get to market, the K-3
III is a more likely candidate than the K-1 III.

Re: GESO (5): Madrid Cathedral

Thanks for looking and commenting, Alan.

The three Spanish cathedrals we visited (Madrid, Toledo, and Cordoba) had a
much more closed-in feeling than the (many!) French, German, and British ones
we’ve visited. There is a lot of heavy ornamentation, and in one of them (can’t
recall at the moment whether Cordoba or Grenada) the choir completely separated
the chancel from the nave.
