I am sure all of you are tired of hearing about and seeing images of my
Monarchs. You will be glad to know I have decided to try something quite
different!

Well, Perhaps not THAT different.

Here are a few initial snaps of my new Black Swallowtail caterpillars.
They are more difficult to find and photograph because they feed on
parsley, which has a lot more places to hide than milkweed. (They also
feed and lay eggs on Rue, but I want to leave the Rue that I planted in our
butterfly garden as places where they can lay eggs after they are released).

Sell both,

Keep just 1?

Both will produce excellent results. The Rollei will certainly have the
better glass, but that much better?

The Canon, while larger, is much easier to use. And it's a rangefinder, not
just a viewfinder.

Both will require a mercury battery adaptation. Probably just a Wein cell.
The Rollei battery holder is a pain.

Thanks Dan, also Ken, John, and Nolan.

Canepa is a fun place to visit. I went there several times just checking out
the cars in the showroom before I learned there was a museum upstairs.

I love the way you create interesting and effective visual images out of
mundane, boring surroundings. You have a clever eye.
I especially like the last image; the curving path is quite appealing, the
trees give a peaceful feeling, and the background vehicle and buildings are
lost in mystery.

Well done, Dan - as photographer & lepidopterist. I can identify with
those because I raised some Citrus Swallowtails in my youth. Very common

Do I (would you)

Both will produce excellent results. The Rollei will certainly have the
better glass, but that much better?

The Canon, while larger, is much easier to use. And it's a rangefinder, not
just a viewfinder.

Both will require a mercury battery adaptation. Probably just a Wein cell.
