RE: yet another MZ-S first look

2001-03-06 Thread Dennis Klimovich

Dear Doug.
Is it possible to add your message to our collection of
'MZ-S impressions"?
I mean two messages from PDMLers (Cesar and Ed) now in our
"News" list
http://www.mtu-net.ru/penta/news/news_2001.shtml.
This reviews are visited very well - because many people
want to know more about this body but doesn't have access
and/or PDML subscription Your message will add some very
interesting details IMHO...

I know this religion. It's related to the one where you hit
yourself until you bleed isn't it? Or maybe that one where
you
nail people to things?

I find this terribly funny and ironic.
Here we have hundreds of members from wealthy, high tech
societies.
And one of our members in a remote outpost in Slovenia sees
and handles the
camera!

This camera was shown on PhotoFair'2000 (St. Peterburg,
Russia, 19 Oct 2000)...
but f hotel's stuff - I goes to show after time when
this camera goes back to Pentax Europe n.v. :-(

RE: A lens that only fits on plastic lens mount

My guess is that under similar use, the metal lens mounts
will last
substantially longer than plastic ones.

RE: A lens that only fits on plastic lens mount

2001-02-06 Thread Dennis Klimovich

Well, if you just mount one cheap zoom lens onto it, the
plastic
mount may last 1,000 years.
[...]
If you keep changing lenses, the plastic may not hold up as
well. And if you keep mounting lenses that cut
grooves into it, the plastic mount may not hold up beyond a
year or
two.
I'm not opposed to judicious use of plastics in cameras, but
lens
mount and other stress points aren't the place to do it.
---
Hi again.
It all depends on many conditions. Some kind of plastics
very durable. Polycorbonate of course just for very cautious
use with one zoom lens. But as former composite materials
engineer I know many materials which can be MUCH better than
metal in lens mount (and not only in mount - all camera's
"skeleton" can be produced from composites and it can solve
many problems - especially! for long time or hard condition
use). But of course they all expensive :-)

RE: Any suggestion for ultra-wide angle lens

2001-01-30 Thread Dennis Klimovich

Hi!
Years ago I bought Zenitar K 16/2,8 - It`s made in Russia
and I am very
happy with it. And it's cheap too - only
1100 EEK ( 1 $ = 10 EEK when I purchased it ).
Cheers , Raivo
---
Current Moscow price ~$80.
Last year I heard some rumours about russian people who sell
it in internet (~$150). Rumours was very bad - they catch
buyer's money but not sent lens. Please be careful with such
firms!

I can't advise good way to buy it. But IMHO only help of
your friends or workmates who goes to Russia will be safe
:-( If you will use this way - please write to me and I'll
help to this person where to find it.
But I can't send it to anyone by post :-( Russian post
office works very bad. We just shall lose money or lens.

RE: Enough bodies. What about new Pentas 35mm Lenses

2001-01-11 Thread Dennis Klimovich

[...]
A while back Pentax also announced that there would soon be
a 24-90mm
zoom. Now, that might be a must-have item (for me, at
least), great for
travel or just walking around if it is any good. But I have
seen no
further information, not even rumors, on this potentially
very
interesting lens.
Anybody know anything? What aperture, variable or fixed
aperture,
close-focusing distance, etc. When?
Bob

Just waiting for PMA (Feb).
Aperture was presented on photokina'2000:
eng.htm (Ralf Engelman's photokina review)
-http://digilander.iol.it/aohc/photokina2000_3e.htm (part of
Dario Bonazza's photokina review)
but no other detail AFAIK...

RE: Digtal is here. Film production to be stopped!

2001-01-06 Thread Dennis Klimovich

The worlds third largest film manufacturer, Agfa, will stop
the production of film. Agfa will gradually fade out film
production. The reason is that the 35mm and APS film market
is shrinking while the sales of digital cameras is exploding
in most markets.
Will others follow?
