Re: Slide Copying With Bellows

Thanks Malcom and Darren and all who answered.

I was browsing archive and saw Darren was experimenting with Pentax Bellows II.

Did you ever get it to work? Have yet to watch video.

I most likely do scanner, as it seems easiest.

Slide Copying With Bellows

2016-02-09 Thread Kim Tang
Hi,

I recall someone was recently exploring digitizing slides with with a DSLR and
bellows. May I please ask, how did that work and what was the setup?

How does it compare quality-wise to a flat-bed scanner or film scanner?

Thanks in advance.

Respectfully. In above example, how many used lens purchases might it take to
inflate the price to that point where new one appears like a better deal? If I
attempt to sell a newly purchased used lens at a high price when it is worth
more, then new one looks good. Three years down the road, when used price
falls, now people more likely buy used. How help manufacturer now?

There was mention of indirect effect of used gear market. What about direct
effect of purchasing new gear? Which has larger impact?

Dear PJ,

No I did not think you resembled a certain male body part or private detective.

Thank you though.

We all spend what we may spend on camera gear and that can be different for
each. I was hoping to say that buying used saves us money, but does that equal
helping Pentax? What if most of used Pentax gear is sold to fund switch to
other brands? Then used purchases do not help Pentax and money is funneled to
Pentax competition instead.

Good idea, but don't this hurt Pentax in the long run?

Re: Converting bad SDM to screw drive AF

I agree. Much of what you say maybe be true.

But must ask. Some percent of used sales not going to fund purchase of brand
new equipment from Pentax. Do you agree?

Some is simply selling to bring dollars. Others could be to fund purchase of
non-Pentax gear.

So if majority of people follow in same, then Pentax sells less new items at
highest profit margin.

The best thing for Pentax is if users consistently upgrade and purchase largely
new Pentax items.

Either 36 or 42 would be fine with me. Even 24 MP. The D5 is 20MP.

That's what I've read as well. It would matter to me. What's the use of all
those MP if the captured image is mushy from some point out to the edges?

K-1 Sensor

2016-01-17 Thread Kim Tang
Good Sunday morning.

Any bets as to what size sensor, in MP, the K-1 will have? 24, 36, 42?

Manufacturer?

How will a given size impact lens suitability?

I'm coming from a K20D.

Re: K-1 Sensor

2016-01-17 Thread Kim Tang
Thanks Larry and John.

Let's hope for 36 and not 24.

I have a number of FF lenses including FA 100/2.8 Mac, FA 28-200, Takumar
300/4, 40/2.8 MF, and several MF 50's.

I'm just not a frequent upgrader.

If it was a 24MP sensor that could be some low-light competition for the D5,
maybe?
