Re: Any authorized Pentax repair people out there?

2005-12-06 Thread ehomme
I bought one about two years ago from Pentax USA in
Colorado. I called the service department number on the
web site and talked to the lady at the parts desk directly,
no problem. I think it was relatively inexpensive, about
7-8 dollars or so.

Re: Pentax Remote Assistant and the *ist DS (2.00)

2005-12-05 Thread ehomme
I seem to recall that the default file save format was camera-raw and couldn't
be changed, for one thing. There might be others as well. Also, the
documentation
for use with cameras other than the D is broken and Pentax wouldn't approve
PRA's
use on the other cameras until that is fixed.

RA was released for D only and as far as I know has never been
revised for 100% proper operation with DS, DS2 or DL. I'm still waiting
patiently . . .

Those names are worse than *Ist. How do you pronounce them?

Re: *ist-DS english manual

On page 179, with the custom setting for "using aperture ring" set to
"permitted" and the camera in manual mode, it states that when depth of field
is checked (Preview), AE metering is switched on. Is this not what
happens when the green button on the *ist-D is depressed?

Thanks, I didn't previously see an explanation that the preview lever on *istDs works
as the green button on the *istD.

PhotoPlus Expo in NYC

Any list member been to the NYC show yet? I intend to go tomorrow to check out the
*istDs, among other things. I'll see if they have any information about operation with
M/K/M42 lenses there.
