Re: *istD Raw Converter
that only tells me how much better they would be if you processed them in Photoshop CS. I'll disagree. I have a couple of 20x30 inch prints that were processed with PhotoLab. They'll knock your socks off. Re: *istD Raw Converter
the 8-vs 16-bit issue was what made me look at the SE version instead. i see now from the new data sheet comparing the four versions that there isn't nearly as much difference anymore. i wish it produced Photoshop files directly instead of TIFF-16. OTOH, i have a lot of Photoshop plugins to automate much of my processing and so it's not such a big deal to work directly in Photoshop one file at a time. that plus although i shoot a lot of images, i filter a lot out while editing. Re: *istD Raw Converter
the Pentax converter works OK for small prints, and only if they need minimal processing. The only support is through the forums on rawworkflow.com, and no one is answering my queries about crashes, even though I provided pretty good repro steps. If they fix these problems I'll happily plop down my $99 (expensive, but cheaper than Photoshop CS and I can keep using my preferred Picture Window Pro). alex

Re: *istD Raw Converter
Hello Mark, I just started playing with it a bit yesterday. I ended up downloading the middle version, but would probably buy the LE version. I haven't done any extensive tests yet, but the first look is promising. It seems to be less harsh in it's sharpening and seems to preserve subtle tones better. I was just comparing 16 bit tiffs, though. As I gain more impressions, I'll try to post them. The Pentax converter is just fine, although a bit of a nasty interface, providing you want to make prints, rather than look at pixels at 72 DPI. I can't comment on the one you are looking at though. *istD Raw Converter
Hey Folks, I haven't really been playing close attention to the discussion on converting RAW files from the *istD. The little bit I have read has given me the impression that people aren't totally pleased with the Pentax converter and have been happier with the Photoshop CS converter. Has anyone tried the C1 RAW Workflow Software featured on the http://www.rawworkflow.com/ website? The website indicates that it supports RAW files from the *istD. The LE version is $99. Just lookin' for a little feedback about this piece of software. Mark
