Thanks Sven (and all the others posting their *ist D numbers).

I don't think I can figure out any numbering system about Pentax, as I think
there is not one.
I just think that Pentax picks number lots here and there, as they need
them.

By comparing lots showing up with *ist D production run, you can see that
they are spread far more then necessary.

However, I was hoping to guess if certain *ist D lots can perform better
than others and, in case, which are older and which newer.
Don't take for granted that higher figures mean newer cameras. It was only
true 1952 to 1960, or the like. Then, it's a mess.

Of course, within the same lot, it can be true that the higher the number
the newer the camera.
But different lots can bear whichever number.

2003).

Mine is 5512*** (bought April 2004),

As you can notice, there's something odd in above figures, the higher
ones
beig apparently older than the lower one.

Thanks to everyone who will kindly participate in this survey.

Cheers,

Dario Bonazza

Hi all,
In my effort of understanding (guessing?) something better about the
*ist D,
I'll ask all *ist D owners to post the main part of the serial No. of
the
camera they own, together with date of purchase.
The two cameras I used and tested are both 5646*** (tested October
2003).
Mine is 5512*** (bought April 2004),
As you can notice, there's something odd in above figures, the higher
ones
beig apparently older than the lower one.
Thanks to everyone who will kindly participate in this survey.

I just rejoined this list today. I was a member for many years (and
hosted Boz's website for a while) but left the group when I switched
to digital a few years ago. Thankfully Pentax finally came out with a
D-SLR so I'm back.
