The only lens I bought on e-bay that I know for sure was stolen had a very
detailed description from a very knowledgeable seller with clear photographs.
Imagine my consternation when about a year later I receive an e-mail from a
police department asking for all the details of the sale and a deposition to be
used in court...

Indeed. I've bought about 15 bits of Pentax kit off eBay in the last
couple of months, and I'm starting to worry about how much of what is on
offer is stolen. Some of it has to be, obviously, since eBay is just too
convenient for it not to be used for that, but how much? My suspicion
mostly falls on items with very little description, where the sellers
don't answer technical questions.

Talking about buying things on eBay. It's still the place to look first, no

When older K/M/A-mount lenses are available with a warranty from so

Very perilous. I find those prices just low enough to indulge many

Case in point, my new bargain chrome MX arrived today. Some pitting
of the chrome around the edges, but an apparently nicely functional and

pleased with this one, and I plan to give it try tonight at the ball

more used to plastic and don;t share some of the prejudices that we
older folks have since plastics were not nearly as good when we were

Beware KEH.

The simple solution is to not bid on anything anymore and to list the
