Re: Anti-stress link
From: P. J. Alling No; nor when I worked there either. It's a very sensitive issue with the USPS brass, and it's a very anal, uptight work environment. Mentioning going postal would get you a reprimand. I worked the computer help desk, where everything ran on WindozeNT. You weren't allowed to call the BSOD by that name, which BTW even M$ uses, because it had the word death. You had to call it a windows blue screen Some of us had the jackets made up as a joke, but you couldn't wear it anywhere near work. Probably would have gotten fired if the brass had known about them. In the end it didn't matter, because we all got laid-off and the jobs were outsourced offshore. Does the USPS give you an ammunition allowance? So their camera is at least as amateur as your Pentax, if not more so. You do not have to have knowledge to be a snob. Whether it is Sony or Panasonic or any make, does not matter at all. In fact, what tends to happen is that if anyone is struggling with their kit, others will help out. Sometimes you get a VJ with a cheaper end camera who is floundering...nobody laughs. That is because you are dealing with pro's. To them a tool is a tool, it is the amateurs with their so called pro cameras that are usually the snobs. It is a matter of oneupmanship and has nothing whatsoever to do with reality. I imagine there is a lot of it amongst amateur video folks with their pro-sumer video cameras sneering at those who have ps camcorders as well. -graywolf Cotty wrote: On 4/4/07, John Celio, discombobulated, unleashed: It's not so much what they think, as it is the constant heckling. Re: Anti-stress link
Sometimes just the opposite happens, at least for me it has. I've been out shooting with a Pentax and someone approaches me with positive comments on the gear. Some time ago I was using the LX in Berkeley and a small group of Japanese tourists saw me. A couple of them gave me some very strong signs of approval, one even bowed slightly. I've never been heckled, but if I had been it would have been an honor, for it shows just how insecure the hecklers are. A real pro would never do such a thing. Knowledgeable people understand the quality of Pentax glass, appreciate the smaller size of the cameras, and recognize that Pentax, just like any other brand, has some good and valuable features. And wouldn't some of those jamokes be surprised to learn that some of their precious lenses were designed by Pentax (or so I've been told).
