Any experience with the Sigma 1.4 EX DG converter?
Could be I can get one really cheap, anybody have first-hand experience with it and maybe even mounting Pentax lenses on it? The list of supported lenses on the Sigma web is extremely small. kris -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
Re: Any experience with the Sigma 1.4 EX DG converter?
I have one, bought it for the Sigma 300 f4. It does not do AF although it will on occasion. I have had little success in mounting the few Pentax lenses i have but works well on the above mentioned Sigma Dave On Wed, Dec 5, 2012 at 7:18 AM, Krisjanis Linkevics krisjanis.linkev...@exigenservices.com wrote: Could be I can get one really cheap, anybody have first-hand experience with it and maybe even mounting Pentax lenses on it? The list of supported lenses on the Sigma web is extremely small. I have one. It seems to be very good quality for a teleconverter. I got pretty good results with the FA*80-200/2.8 as I recall. AF is by screw drive linkage through the teleconverter and if works reasonably well. The AF linkage makes manual focusing problematic because the linkage sometimes binds up when being driven from the wrong end (that is, the lens driving it rather than the camera body). -- Mark Roberts - Photography Multimedia www.robertstech.com -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

A lot of my motorsports images were shot with this combination. (Nowadays, of course, the 60-250 is more likely to fill that slot). -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

From: Krisjanis Linkevics Could be I can get one really cheap, anybody have first-hand experience with it and maybe even mounting Pentax lenses on it? The list of supported lenses on the Sigma web is extremely small. kris I have an older Sigma 1.4 EX (pre-DG) and it works well with my Sigma 300f/2.8 Tokina 80-200f/2.8. Build quality is adequate, and it's only a little soft for digital. The DG version should be optimized much better for digital. The only lens that's ever given me any trouble is the Bigma (Sigma 50-500), but that's not a fault with the converter. If the price is really cheap, it's probably worth it. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

If the price is really cheap, it's probably worth it. Thanks for the input, David, Mark, John Francis and John Sessoms. I will try to get my hands on it, seeing as I have one lens on the supported list and it could also potentially work on others. The price is equivalent to ~70$ LNIB. kris -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
