Re: Best lens for my new ES II?
A friend and I did a comparison between a K24/2.8 and a Zeiss (Flektagon?) 25mm (forget what the aperture was, maybe 2.5) and the Pentax lens was superior in contrast, light falloff, and observable sharpness. The Zeiss lens was bigger and heavier though. YMMV Shel > From: Steve Pearson <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > I still wish I could hear more feedback about some of > the other M42 lenses, such as Zeiss. They have a reputation, which in my experience inflates their price beyond their capabilities, no matter how good they are. Steve Pearson wrote: Thanks Peter for the reference to that web site. I looked thru most of it, and it was very helpful. I still wish I could hear more feedback about some of the other M42 lenses, such as Zeiss. There's just something about that name that makes me think they are better than the Pentax brand. Thanks again everyone. --- "Peter J. I have always had K mount, and know very little about the screw mount bodies. I have an ES II on it's way. My questions for you are: If you could pick the best quality standard lens for this, would it be the 50mm 1.4, or a Zeiss, or other??? What would you expect to pay for this lens on the used market today? Finally, if anyone can refer me to a website that can explain the metereing of this body, along with the many M42 lenses that are available, that would be fantastic. If such a thing exists. Thanks Peter for the reference to that web site. I looked thru most of it, and it was very helpful. I still wish I could hear more feedback about some of the other M42 lenses, such as Zeiss. Re: Best lens for my new ES II?
Congrats on the ESII. I always keep the SMC f2 35mm Takumar on my ESII instead of a 50mm lens. The SMC Takumar allows me to meter wide-open. Hi everyone, I have a few questions for all of you screw mount experts. I have always had K mount, and know very little about the screw mount bodies. I have an ES II on it's way.
