Glad to hear you guys are safe -- if suffering from the terrible air
quality and high winds.
I found this site with images of the fires:

2019-10-28 Thread Godfrey DiGiorgi
Sunday was pretty awful out ... lots of wind in Santa Clara, I didn't cycle;
didn't feel like being blown all over the place. Today was actually very nice
out in SC/SJ: I rode my loop, the air was clear, temps were nice too.

Nothing like the problems here that we saw a year ago, with those fires up
north and the wind blowing all the ash and smoke down our way.

I'm in San Jose, which isn't in a high-risk area (it's fairly flat, with a lot
of roads so it's easy to get around, and doesn't get particularly high winds).
High winds and mountainous terrain are the real danger conditions.

Larry is in a marginally higher-risk area, as he's one valley away in slightly
hillier country and in the middle of a lot of wooded areas. But while he's
more likely to lose power he's still not in a real danger zone.

The poor air quality is noticeable - yesterday Cupertino (right in the middle
of Silicon Valley - that's where Apple are based) would have been a bad place
to be for anyone with respiratory conditions.

Power outages alone must be pretty hard to deal with...  glad you aren't
close to any of them and hope it stays that way..
