much... :-)

I am scared of them so I try not to photograph them. I will look into the
pointers you gave me tomorrow after my grandpa's funeral. Thank all of you
for responding

Sandra -

If you're just looking for some way to generate a gallery to upload to
the web you might look into "Porta"

http://www.stegmann.dk/mikkel/porta/

It's a free, down loadable, small program that will take a folder of
jpeg or tiff files and create the correct files to upload. It
automatically resizes the picture files to the right size for thumbnails
and viewing. One example of what it does is here -

Is there some way i could get some pointers on how to revise a page. I am
just using the page wizards I found on the internet. Is there a book that
can teach me to do this right?

It's much better now than it was but the best fix for your page is simple:
don't resize original images using HTML image resize tags.

What you need to do is to create a small image (quick to DL) for your page and
if you would like to give viewer the opportunity to view the image in a larger
format then you can make that small image into a 'clickable' hot-link which
calls on the full sized image file, not ideal but a good interim solution. As
your page currently is you have full res image files being down-loaded in full
then displayed on the page in a tiny little window.

So instead of:

http://www.rubicongirls.com/big-eyed-sami-may-1-
2005.jpg" border=0 >

Use:

http://www.rubicongirls.com/big-eyed-sami-may-1-2005.jpg";>http://www.rubicongirls.com/big-eyed-sami-may-1-2005_thumb.jpg";
BORDER=0>

Where the image "big-eyed-sami-may-1-2005_thumb.jpg" is a second copy of the
original file resized to 232 x 174 pixels.

I hope this helps.

I have a Visual book simply titled, HTML. It was published by IDG Books
Worldwide, Inc. in 2000. It rather simply tells how to do the common
things in HTML. You can use it both as a tutorial, and as a reference.
It is quite a handy book to have near the computer desk.

If you would really like people to comment you should really revise
the page,
in its current form the page is almost 9MB to open, for this type of
document

it should be well under 500kB.

My only comment is that the colorful background/props tend to distract
from the real subject, the people. Not sure how I would minimize them.

Sandra, the reason your page is so big is that you are using the wrong
file-type for your images. Download Irfan view, and then save each image
as a JPEG. They will be a fraction of the present size. Use a
compression ratio of around 75%.

www.irfanview.com It's free.

For web page editors, look here:

Sandra,
They're all beautiful! No way they could take a bad photo.
The subject's interaction is all important in these types of shots,
making the background "clutter" irrelevant.
Posed "studio" set-ups normally require a cleaner background in the
interest of undistracted subject focus by the viewer.

They're fun family snaps, but you're right: the background is too busy.
One pot of flowers in the lower foreground would be fine perhaps,
although it depends on the rest of the scene. Trust your eye to create
a balanced and pleasing scene. Non photographers will generally try to
pack the picture with everything that strikes their fancy. It makes for
an unhappy stew. Take charge, young lady!
