Thanks, Steve. That fact that it works with exiftools and enables the work to
be done from within LR is appealing. Thanks again for bringing it to my
attention. It did not come up in any of my searches.

Thanks, Steve. I’m wondering what advantage, if any, there is of a plugin
relying on exiftool versus exiftool itself. Especially since there is a gui for
it.

I understand that exiftool is the state of the art exif/metadata editor, that
there is a gui for windows but not os x.

Googling, I came across this mac-specific editor: .
Are you familiar with it? If not, any opinions based on the information
provided on the website.

Also, do you know anything about LensTagger, the LR plugin Steve suggested that
relies on exiftool? I wonder if it could be considered a gui for mac for
exiftools.

Thanks, Igor. It seems so.

I do it using EXIFtool. There are a few steps to follow to do it right, but
it's not difficult.
I'll write up a procedure and post it later.

exiftool can do it; if you must do it within Lightroom, you could try this
plug-in, which relies on exiftool:

not an endorsement — i've never used it; the comments mention some problems

Eric,

I am afraid the answer is no, not from LR.

In principle, there is software that that allows writing (editing) various
information into EXIF (the portion of the image file where all the
so-called "meta-data" is saved, including the focal length).

I haven't worked with ver. 5, but from what I know about both 3.x and
4.x, I assume Adobe have not added that capability to ver.5.x.

Best,

Igor
