OT: Carry everywhere toy

2002-07-18 Thread Bill Owens

I just received a new toy which may become my carry everywhere camera. It's
a Yashica Samurai half frame AF ZLR. Seems to be very well built and nice
features for a $30.00 camera. Lens is 25-75 (50-150) zoom that is fairly
fast for a PS at 3.5-4.3. Built in automatic flash, night shot and night
shot with flash, single shot or consecutive shooting at a very fast fps rate
(haven't used it yet, or timed it).

I have one too. I stopped using it because I got sick of people thinking it was a
mini camcorder and trying to perform in front of it.

But it does pack a mess of features in. I thought the best thing about it was the way
you can operate everything with only one hand on it. If yours doesn't have it, look
on eBay for the action grip which makes this even easier when biking or whatever else.

My parents have one of those but have quit using it ( a while ago) because
nobody in town will develop the half-frame stuff. They also were a bit
discouraged by the fact that they almost always had film in there from last
year ;) A roll of 24 makes about fifty prints, ya know... Hard to think of
having film in your camera for more than a few months, isn't it?
