Re: Dont miss my Bokina so much now

2018-08-12 Thread J.C. O'Connell
when working with live subjects, the extension of the lens barrel is not
the issue as
to whether they will be "scared off", what is key is the so called working
distance and that
is determined by the focal length of the lens. Longer lens focal length
means greater working distance for a given magnification.

This lens is available under a wide variety of brands. I had the Panagor

Didn’t like the long throw and the lens would get so long it would scare
off the critter you were trying to focus on. (Obviously not an issue for
subjects that don’t fly or jump away.

Upgraded from it to a Vivitar Series 1 Bokina and then to the Tokina

while

it is still in mint condition.

I would warn those who own tokina at-x macro 90mm f2.5 lenses in pentax k

the sticky aperture problem I had occurred on a like new sample of the

no visible oil on the blades. my lens went from mint condition to unusable

you might want to get rid of those lenses while they work.

One drawback of this new elicar lens is that since it has the helicoid to
go to one to one magnification built in, its bulkier and heavier than the
