Now that I can see it, what I like about it is the shadows off to the right. The light is kind of harsh, so the shadows work quite well. -- Best regards, Bruce Tuesday, April 12, 2005, 11:31:50 AM, you wrote: JF John Francis mused: Here's my take on the California state flower: http://jfwaf.com/Poppies.jpg (Taken on a stroll around the neighbourhood a couple of days ago) JF Oops - make that http://www.jfwaf.com/Poppies.jpg
Re: GESO - California Poppies
Thanks, Bruce. I liked the shadows (although as you can see from the angle, this was taken in the late afternoon - it was much harsher at mid-day). But what I really liked was the image of the poor little flower struggling to find somewhere to grow in a sea of concrete. Pave paradise - put up a parking lot. The fact that it is the state flower just adds that final touch. Bruce Dayton mused: Now that I can see it, what I like about it is the shadows off to the right. Bruce, You are really outdoing yourself with nice flower pix these days! Poppies are really hard to shoot, because they move like crazy with the slightest breeze, and Murphy's/Sod's law provides a breeze whenever poppies, my camera, and I coincide. Thanks for the comments. These were all taken around the park right near my house. Much of the park area is natural (no grooming) and affords opportunities to get images of native plant/animal life.
