Yep, squid is like shrimp. If you overcook it, you ruin it. With squid,
overcooking is extremely bad as the flesh turns into a substance
 similar to old tires.

That would explain why I don't like squid.

With our working on, and moving into an old house that we are
renovating, I simply don't have any annual leave left that I can
allocate to a short trip to the USA. Money is less of a problem, as our
flexible (plastic) friends are always there to take the strain. However,
I have already used up nearly 15 days of my yearly allowance of 25 days
for leave, and we still have the family summer holidays and next
 Christmas to come...

The Grandfather Mountain Nature Photography Weekend is a special event

have to remain fond memories. Unless I hit the Lotto and chuck the
career, I can see no way past it.

I will, of course, do my best to try for 2007 :-)

I am now going to find a small dark room and cry for a bit.

Restaurants that serve food made from old tires invariably get good

How do they do in the Continental version?

They're only served that way if the chef is having a particularly Good

GFM - Can't Make It This Year

2006-01-14 Thread Cotty
I have some disappointing news that I have been agonising over for a few
weeks now.

Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to GFM 06 through lack of
time :-(((

With our working on, and moving into an old house that we are
renovating, I simply don't have any annual leave left that I can
allocate to a short trip to the USA. Money is less of a problem, as our
flexible (plastic) friends are always there to take the strain. However,
I have already used up nearly 15 days of my yearly allowance of 25 days
for leave, and we still have the family summer holidays and next
Christmas to come...

The Grandfather Mountain Nature Photography Weekend is a special event
that brings back fond memories. Alas, for this year at least, it will
have to remain fond memories. Unless I hit the Lotto and chuck the
career, I can see no way past it.

I will, of course, do my best to try for 2007 :-)

I am now going to find a small dark room and cry for a bit.
