Re: Hello list -and FA* 2.8 28-80mm AL
Hi! First of, congratulations! You accomplished a whole lot during last several months ;-). Now to your lens question. It is 28-70 btw, *not* 28-80. I used it somewhat when visiting Jostein. And I also have Tamron 28-75/2.8. I think (based on my taste and experience) that Tamron is more hmmm common. Pentax has this typical Pentax look and feel in the pictures, while Tamron is more generic. Having said that, it is amazing optic. My copy of the lens is sharp wide open. It also rotates the right way. I mean all the rings and stuff. The original lens costs now probably well in excess of $1,000, used. But Tamron, being at least 3 times cheaper is probably on par IQ-wise. Pentax, though, is better build, but again, not that much better so as to warrant such a huge price difference. So that having got a good sample of Tamron 28-75/2.8 I don't look back at other lenses in the same category. Cheers! Last time I saw a new one for sale in the UK, it was over £1400; ~$3000. I had the use of one for ~9months and the only two "faults" I could find with it were that it was large and sometimes intimidating. - Email sent from www.virginmedia.com/email Virus-checked using McAfee(R) Software and scanned for spam -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Hi Yes - since Christmas. I found a lovely yong wife - and I'm spending a lot of time with her and our new baby :-). Perhaps you´re right. But then again, photograping can be a lot of un with very few lense too. I guess I have 5O Pentax lenses or so, but I use very few of them. My favorite is the FA* 2.8 80-200mm. I had it for years - Jostein helped me get it from Norway. I practically use it every day :-) regards Jens You were gone? > > Love to buy the lens and maybe the camera, but I can't afford either > right now. Re: Hello list -and FA* 2.8 28-80mm AL
Thanks Bob. I think you're right. I use a Sigma 10-20mm. Only 4-5.6, but quite useable and nice - rectiliniar. I own lots of lenses including the old Limited ones - but I rarely use other lenses than this one, my Tamron 28-75mm and my FA* 2.8 80-200mm and occationally for maacro my Tamron 2.5 90mm (MF). Thesee four lenses cover in fact all my current needs for optics. :-). Regards Jens > Jens, > I agree with Mark here. The DA* 16-50/2.8 is $699 at B&H. It's an extraordinary lens when assembled correctly. Probably better than the old FA* lens on an APS-C camera. But I'm guessing. Jens, I agree with Mark here. It is a US$1,000+ lens in terms of quality and full frame coverage. Mark can do a better job of comparing it to the DA16-45/2.8 which he uses. I've resisted buying the new lens as I have the older one and am quite happy. Price would be an issue as the new DA16-45/2.8 is $1,100+ over here at B&H. More for you I suspect... Regards, Bob S. Hello list -and FA* 2.8 28-80mm AL
Hello guys I've been off list for about six months now. I've been buzy doing other things - I got married, got a new family and home - as well as new born son - Alvin. He is eight weeks old these days. I'm looking foreward to reading you postings again. I've come across and old 28-80mm for sale. They sell for 1000 usd at ebay. Are they really worth it? I recently purchased a Tamron 28-75 mm. It is excellent. Is the quality difference really justifying huge difference in pricing (2½ times), please? Regards Jens PS I got near mint smc A 3.5 15mm and a fine MX body (chrome) for sale if anyone is interested. -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
