The more I used it, the more often I realized that it was actually the right lens for the job for serious photos. One important thing that it lacks is a depth of field scale. I used a depth of field calculator and made my own, and almost exclusively use that for setting the focus. A lot of the suggestions have made me realize how many of my equipment purchases lately have been for lights and light modifiers. When it comes down to it, in ideal light, almost any lens can deliver superb results, and so much of the cost of good lenses is paying for the ability to make up for imperfect light. So, if you can improve your light, you can make almost any of your lenses be sharp enough that they are no longer the limiting factor in the sharpnes of your photos. I had been thinking radio triggers, too... I saw the discussion the other day about the Cyber Commander, which is spendier than cheapo ones, but would give the ability to change the output from camera sadly, my credit does me no good at Paul C Buff... Ever used the 7 ft umbrellas...? No, biggest I've tried is the 42 umbrella softbox, like these: http://www.amazon.com/PBL-Umbrella-Reflective-Photographic-Lighting/dp/B005DM83KO Not nearly as efficient as the Westcott designs, and that's critical with speedlights. The Paul Buff PLM with front diffuser is nn my longer-term shopping list. The extreme silver surface and parabolic shape mean it's super efficient and usable with speedlights. http://www.paulcbuff.com/plm.php With a dish that big you really need a multiway speedlight bracket and multiple flashes inside it. You're lighting a large area so you need more watt-seconds. -- -bmw -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

I also advice you to go for the 8mm fisheye. Lot of fun.
