BH photo lists the Gossen scout 3 for $53.00 US. It's a selenium (no battery) match needle meter that should fit your requirement of simple no frills. BUTCH Each man had only one genuine vocation - to find the way to himself. Hermann Hess (Damien)

Obviously, if you know exactly what you don't want, then you should focus your search on the remainder. If you ever find a small, cheap, rugged, incident lightmeter that has no other modes or functions, tell us what it is. In the meantime, augment your spotmeter with the Sunny 16 rule until your dream comes true. It's probably not as rugged as the analog Studio Deluxe by Sekonic, but then it's 10X faster in use and rugged enough for most uses. Best to carry it in its belt pouch rather than around your neck where it can swing and bang into things (speaking from experience). A good analog Gossen. All the info available all the time. I have a Lunapro F (with flash metering), but you can get simpler models cheaper. Maybe I miss something. Lunapro is not incident meter. Is that correct? Re: Incident_meter_suggestions_wanted
I have two. A Weston Euro Master that works very well and a Sekonic L-328 that does incident and reflected light; its also a flash meter. I've used Weston Masters (3) for more than 30 years and found them very reliable. But the Sekonic, a recent acquisition when I needed to measure flash output, does reflected, incident and even has a spot attachment. Now I use it for everything. There's only one danger: you can easily lose the filters or the incident dome. They are small and can become invisible. The Finnish distributor knows this and keeps spares. I got a reflected light filter in the mail today. Works very nicely in that capacity. I use mine that way about 80% of the time. -Mat Andre Langevin wrote: A good analog Gossen. All the info available all the time. Re: Incident_meter_suggestions_wanted
I picked one up, along with the hotshoe mount. Very nice, only problem I had was after a few hours one evening (~40 deg F) and the battery voltage must have gotten low (although it was a new battery) and it just started a constant pitch beep until I pulled the battery. At the time I wanted to smash the thing, but other than that it's been a happy marriage. -Ryan Alan Chan wrote: Speaking of Gossen, the new Digisix seems like a good package. regards, Alan Chan _ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses. Z, The Minolta Flash Meter IV-F is the one I use. It may be a bit more than your looking for but it is a fine meter that is really easy to use. By good quality I mean accurate and built strong and which is long lasting. I do not need or want many features, like to convert to spot meter, or zoom, or to use with flash or to be radio controlled. Just simple, durable incident meter, not very big, that can go in the front pouch of Domke f-803 bag easy. Does group have any suggestions? Would like it to work alongside the pentax digital spotmeter and for use with MX, Leicas, and Rolleiflex, if that is of any help.
