Jalbum Photo Album Generator?
Anyone used Jalbum? http://jalbum.net/ Or have you something else to recommend? I want to redo my web pages. Rolling my own HTML at the moment and I know CSS, but it does take time. So I am looking for something less time consuming. But something that still has some style. I also prefer paying for my own site rather than using one of the content providers for photographers (flickr, smugmug, etc.). I am leaning toward a web page generator rather than a lot of onsite php or MySQL or something. And I am not overly fond of what Lightroom does and I basically want to avoid Flash, or heavy use of it. Any suggestions welcome. Back when I was running Windows and only had PS3 to edit my photos... I needed something to put together a nice simple gallery. I was using JAlbum and have no complaints. Frankly, these days it's a heck of a lot easier to let Lightroom just generate them from a template I've created I wouldn't want to go through all the JAlbum effort again if I didn't have to. It's possible that there are other templates out there which you could add to LR and then it would generate a page more to your liking - what is it about LR's generated galleries that you don't like? -Charles -- Charles Robinson - charl...@visi.com Minneapolis, MN http://charles.robinsontwins.org http://www.facebook.com/charles.robinson -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

RE: Jalbum Photo Album Generator?
There are a few of us on the list who use Jalbum and we've had a few threads on its use. I use it for all my galleries and find it really flexible, but relatively straightforward to use. It's particularly good for the purpose you mentioned, Marnie, where you want to use your own web space and not be tied to the layout you get with Flickr and the like. The built-in FTP site manager is excellent - you can add directories to your gallery and the site manager sorts out and uploads the new bits for you. It's also easy to create a free-standing one-off gallery that isn't linked to anything else - but with the same theme. I use the Chameleon scheme (also used for the PUG I think) and find it a good compromise between simplicity and flexibility. It's also not Flash... Re: Jalbum Photo Album Generator?
I use jAlbum w/the Chameleon skin - mostly for family type pix when I want to get them available quickly for viewing. If you don't like Chameleon, there are a plethora of other skins to choose from. JAlbum will even give you a limited amount of web space free (30mb) or for a modest fee you can subscribe to a larger amount (1gb for about $27/year or $134/year for 10 gb). They just made some improvements to their user pages to make them more user friendly. -p eactiv...@aol.com wrote: Anyone used Jalbum? http://jalbum.net/ Or have you something else to recommend? ...and there's a new version just out with even more features. It's free to use, but I've been so impressed that I made the voluntary contribution of 20 Euros.
