Re: K10 Battery Grip
A no brainer, really. All the buttons/wheels it offers are the same than those on the camera. Just a note: the On/Off switch from the grip is just only a power switch for the grip. Your main On/off needs to be On of course. 2007/4/20, Walter Hamler [EMAIL PROTECTED]: I have ordered the BG for the K10 and have looked in the camera manual for info. There is only a pic and tells what it does. Nothing about operation. I seem to recall some queries in the past about operation, etc. Are there any immediate pitfalls I need to be aware of, or will it be a no brainer when it arrives? If you want the buttons on it to operate, the main switch on the camera needs to be in the on position. I've found that I want the on/off button on the grip off unless I am actually shooting verticals, as gripping the camera horizontally can press the grip's shutter button. Otherwise, you can use it with or without batteries as you choose. If you want to put a battery into it, you might want to check the set-up menu regarding battery use. The camera can be set to use the grip battery first, or the camera battery first, or can be set to use them more or less concurrently (using the most charged battery first). If you set the camera to use one or the other battery first, when the in use battery dies, the camera will stop working, and you will get a dead battery indication. Switching the camera off and then on will switch it over to the other battery. I have my camera set to use the grip battery first, and then the in camera battery, and I like that the camera tells me when battery #1 has died. Re: K10 Battery Grip
It's pretty much a no brainer, Walt. But a couple things: There's a slot in the grip that will hold the rubber contacts cover that you will remove from the camera. I only mention it because some have mentioned that they didn't notice this. Also, in operation, you may notice that either the e-dials won't work on the camera or on the grip. I've had this happen twice. This is because one of the dials is interfering with the other. The manual for the grip says: 'If the front e-dial or rear e-dial on either the camera or battery grip is not clicked into place, the dials may fail to operate. If the dials on the camera do not operate, try turning the dials on the battery grip slightly. Alternatively, if the dials on the battery grip do not operate, try turning the dials on the camera slightly.' -Brendan --- Walter Hamler [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have ordered the BG for the K10 and have looked in the camera manual for info. Thanks Bill and Brendan for some more good points to remember. I am assuming from Brendan's comments that the grip comes with a manual, so that should make any other questions I may have a little easier. Thanks all for your inputs. I look forward to seeing a lot of you at GFM!! Walt -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
Re: K10 Battery Grip
Of course it allows you to disable the grip (it doesn't disable the second battery of course) and still allows to use the camera as usual in landscape mode or in review mode. I noticed I usually do not press accidentaly the shutter release from the grip when shooting protrait. However, it often happens when showing to others the shot I took. I try to disable the grip first in that case. 2007/4/20, Walter Hamler [EMAIL PROTECTED]: Just a note: the On/Off switch from the grip is just only a power switch for the grip.
