I was actually refering to a test of the Pentax FA645 75/2.8 done in a Swedish
magazine and performed by Hasselblad. It concluded that the Pentax and the Carl Zeiss
were similar in both MTF values and result on film. I still wouldn't use the Pentax on
the 35mm slr though.

Lens resolution tests.

2002-12-14 Thread William Robb
Just for fun, I did a search and found the follwing link:
http://www.phootos.com/Library/resolvetest.htm

This fellow claims that a Hasselblad CF 80mm / 2.8 T* at f2.8 is
hitting 500 lpmm, and a Contax G 45mm / 2 is getting 530 lpmm
using his testing procedures.
This would seem to obviate some claims that small format lenses
are significantly better than 35mm lenses, and agrees with what
I have personally obseved about the Carl Zeiss lens for the
Hasselblad.

Hi Yoshihiko,

I am sorry to hear about the probolem with your eyes! Is it appropriate to
tell us a bit more? In which way are the resolution results affected?

My first take on this problem is that as long as the results are
CONSISTENTLY wrong, they are CORRECT. In other words, we are not
interested in absolute results but in the RELATIVE resolution of one lens
compared to another. With that in mind, I would encourage you to not give
up on lens testing.

Best wishes,
Boz
