slide film in 6 x 6?? Shows you how little I know

just used to make a color print or do they have
gigantic slide projectors for this format? Thanks!

Yes, they have gigantic projectors. Plus they have expensive scanners,
and big enlargers for Ilfochromes.

A big slide is fun to look at on a light table too.

This is really reversal film and yes, There are projectors that take
6x6 (Rollei, Hasselblad, Kindermann) and even 6x7 slides (Mamiya).
So, what are you waiting for?

Do a Google search for `medium format slide projector' to find out more.

Actually, if you wait long enough, you can get a usable medium format
projector on eBay for a reasonable price. Anyway mine was $35, and I thought
that pretty reasonable. Just don't expect something as sophisticated as a
high-end Kodak Carousel.

Go look through the projecto discussions on the Medium Format site put
together by Bob whatshizname . . .

When looking at a 645 transparency on a light table or on the wall, the
color and detail just reach out and grab you. If only I could find a medium
format scanner for a reasonable price . . . (i.e., under $200 BG)

Both. Medium format slide projectors are not exactly cheap though. You can
make Ilfochrome prints, interneg prints, etc. Same as for 35mm but
 using bigger equipment :)

I think the cheapest MF-capable slide scanner is the Agfa Duoscan T1200.
But for a couple of dozen dollars extra you can get their Arcus 1200 which is
far superior as you don't have to sandwich your slides between glass plates
(causing horrible Newton rings).

It could use more resolution and better sharpness though. I wouldn't consider
it good enough for serious printing but for web backgrounds and windows
wallpaper its just great.

I think the Arcus 1200 was about US$700 when I looked (or was that $799).
Mine cost about NZ$1800.

The other approach is a digital camera with a good macro lens over the light
box.

Cheers,
