Have you ever compared it to a Shen Hao? I was giving thought to both of

about a pound and a half lighter.

Feel free to respond off list. :)

2002-08-09 Thread Keith Whaley

In this count, update 17, the Pentax ME is missing entirely, and
there are only 61 menbers listged as having contributed. The post I
just read previous to this had 42 MEs listed, and had 473 members!
What's going on?
the other Subject title was: Bodies Survey Results UPDATE 178

Isn't a survey listing the Pentax camera bodies the list members own
and use most, all the same thing, regardless of title?
If not, what am I missing?

I've never found the ZX-5n to draw attention to itself.

I used to think that the ZX-5n wouldn't be so easy to manually focus, and
coveted a replacement screen with split-image focusing aid, until I decided
to actually test it. For me, once I'd carefully adjusted the diopter, I found
that actually I *can* focus perfectly well on the ZX-5n's screen.

Ya know, since cameras are not sold or used with cases these days, a camera
quiets down very nicely with the lower half of the case mounted on the
camera. Pentax even made a case where there was a flap for the shutter
release and a hole for the lens to protrude.

The later vertical focal plane shutters are quieter the the horizantal focal
plan shutters. However, I have yet to have a focal plane shutter die on me.

Re: Most Used Body Survey

2002-04-11 Thread Shel Belinkoff

Until I got the LX, the ME S was most used, but then the LX overshadowed
it big time. I now find the LX to be too big, too noisy, and too
cumbersome for most photography that I do, and the MX gets used more
often.

I think that for those who are fortunate enough to have numerous bodies
to use (not necessarily own but to use and experiment with), they may
find that their most used body changes as more experience with different
bodies is garnered and as their photography changes. Those who
consistently photograph a particular way or subject, or who have not had
the chance to explore the many camera options that are available, may
well find that they have a favorite or most used body.

Sometimes using a different body may contribute to changing one's
photographic style or interest. For example, having an LX and certain
accessories has made my entry into macro and close-up photography
easier. That's not to say the same work couldn't be done with a
Spotmatic, but for me the LX has eased the transition into this new area
of photography.

Bruce Dayton wrote:

An example for me was, when I had PZ-1p's, I liked the MX body more,
but I almost never used it because the PZ-1p was so capable. I guess
this question drives towards what people feel is most applicable to
their needs rather than what feels nice or brings back memories.

RE: Most Used Body Survey

2002-04-11 Thread TM

Totally true. However, I only have one working camera body right now-
Super A, so that is my most used body.

When I get my Spotmatic fixed and another screwmount body (hopefully
soon),
I'll have a couple more operational cameras.

I plan on getting another Super Program or two as well, as I like the
camera- some faults in user interface, but overall I'm happy with it and
would like a backup body. I want to have the TTL flash metering and some
of the other electronic features of the Super Program/Super A that are
not available on the earlier bodies. Also, it's one of the latest MF
bodies
and I plan on augmenting the bodies with a bunch of MF primes and maybe
a zoom telephoto- 70-210 or something like that.

My most used was an LX and then an MZ-S.
The LX really started to annoy me in a number of ways and i'm now selling my

I also have an MeSuper that i really like.

Re: Most Used Body Survey

2002-04-10 Thread [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I just got done doing some sorting and crunching to send an answer
to Albano (my answer depends on how/whether he breaks down the
class of pre-Spotmatic M42 bodies (oh, I just received an answer
on that while editing this message!)), but I did notice a couple of
things to consider...

I was looking at number or rolls shot per type-of-body (I don't
track individual bodies if I have more than one of a model) from
1997 to the present (705 rolls). Obviously, some bodies have a
head start on others by virtue of my having owned them longer.
And now that I've got multiple bodies, each gets a smaller percentage
of the film I shoot than when I only had one.

As it turns out, the #1 body comes out the same anyhow, but #2 and
#3 change depending on the time frame I look at.

Re[2]: Most Used Body Survey

2002-04-10 Thread Bruce Dayton

Glenn,

I think it would be most interesting to choose the most used at the
present time. I used my old PZ-1p's more than my new MZ-S's by virtue
of how long I had them, but I don't even have them anymore. The idea
here is to give us your best guess as to usage. My hunch is that many
of us may use the newer bodies more than we care to admit, but
actually enjoy using the older bodies more. That's what the Favorites
list is for.
